The website will take students into the 18th century
where they will meet and interact with a diverse group
people who inhabited Colonial Williamsburg. Visit
Us activity will also take students on a virtual tour of
Colonial Williamsburg. On tour, students will explore
Colonial Williamsburgs historic area, meet
tradespeople, members of royalty, plantation owners,
slaves, red coats, the militia, farmers, colonial children
and more. Students will experience colonial life and
learn about colonial life in America from the
perspectives of large landowners, farmers, artisans,
women, free African Americans, indentured servants,
and enslaved African Americans.
Teacher will create an online classroom using a
Blackboard application. Teacher will instruct students
to access the online classroom using their school
assigned number and password.
Teacher will create and post a PowerPoint presentation
on Blackboard to review life in the colonies. At the end
of the presentation teacher will instruct students to
imagine living in Colonial America and to participate,
interact and complete the Visit Us activity on website

Students will review the PowerPoint, open the website
link and begin their colonial adventure. Students will
explore Colonial Williamsburgs historic area from their
computer or mobile device asynchronously.
Students will follow the instructions on the simulation,
click on the six scenes one by one to learn about the
people of Colonial Williamsburg and take a virtual tour.
Students will click on icons on the tour to learn more
about Colonial Williamsburg and its people.
After completion of the Visit Us activity students will
write a two page, double spaced, Times New Roman
font size 12 essay describing colonial life in America
from multiple perspectives and explaining how peoples
lives varied among different social groups in Colonial
America.
Students will submit finished papers on Blackboard
(Rubric is provided under submission).
Teacher will grade submitted papers on Blackboard and
provide feedback on Blackboard.
Teacher will be available for questions and/or issues via
Blackboard e-mail 24/7.
