(2) Shims: to get clearance (3) between impeller and pump head (check three places, 120

(5) Shim: to get clearance (6) between plate and slipper on piston (check three places, 120

Torque for bolts through plate ... 110 10 lb in.(12.4 1.1 Nm)

(12) Swashplate end clearance ... .000 to .005 in.(0.00 to 0.13 mm)

To get correct end clearance for swashplate:

1: Put pump shaft and swashplate into pump body.

2: Install cover (7) and shim pack (9).

Thickness of shim pack (9) ... .015 in.(0.38 mm)

Torque for cover bolts ... 32 lb. ft.(43 Nm)

3: Remove O-ring (8) and install other cover with no shim pack.

Use only 3 bolts (10), approximately 120 between bolts. Tighten bolts four times.

Torque for bolts (first) ... 10 lb. in.(1.1 Nm)

Torque for bolts (second) ... 20 lb. in.(2.3 Nm)

Torque for bolts (third) ... 30 lb. in.(3.4 Nm)

Torque for bolts (fourth) ... 40 lb. in.(4.5 Nm)

NOTE: Swashplate (12) must freely turn after bolts (10) are tight.

4: Measure the distance between the cover and the pump body beside each bolt (10). Make a
record of each measurement and get the average of the measurements. The thickness for shim
pack (11) is the average measurement plus .008 in. (0.20 mm).

5: If the thickness of shim pack (11) is .005 to .025 in. (0.13 to 0.63 mm), remove the cover.
Install O-ring (8), shim pack (11), the cover and the seven bolts and lockwashers.

Torque for bolts (10) ... 32 lb. ft.(43 Nm)

NOTE: If the thickness of shim pack (11) is not .005 to .025 in. (0.13 to 0.63 mm), add .015 in.
(0.38 mm) to the thickness of shim pack (11) to get the total thickness of shim pack (11) and
shim pack (9). One half the total thickness (of both shim packs) is now the thickness for each
shim pack (9) and (11). Install shim packs and both covers [make certain O-ring (8) and
lockwashers are on the cover bolts].

(13) Angle for swashplate (12) to get the maximum stroke for the pistons ... 14 41' 0 10'

(14) Angle for swashplate (12) to get the minimum stroke for the pistons ... 0 20' 0 10'

(15) Screw to make the adjustment for the maximum stroke for the pistons.

NOTE: Some pumps use shims under a bolt (head) to make the adjustment for maximum
piston stroke.

(16) Torque for locknut ... 125 20 lb. ft.(170 25 Nm)

(17) 8J1898 Shims to make the adjustment for the minimum stroke for the pistons.

(18) Torque for stop bolt ... 80 10 lb. ft.(110 14 Nm)

(19) 2A1695 Spring (shuttle valve):
