CCNA Routing and Switching Course Outline

COURSE TITLE: CCNA ROUTING AND SWITCHING

COURSE CODE:
SEMESTER: 2
Credit value: Lecturer: Daniel Moune
Credit hours: 45 hours Telephone: 237 675 082 872
Self-training: 420 hours Email: moune.daniel@ictuniversity.org
Course Description As Enterprises migrate toward controller based architectures, the role and skills
required of a core network engineer are evolving and more vital than ever. To prepare for this network
transition, the CCNA Routing and Switching certification will not only prepare you with the knowledge of
foundational technologies, but ensure you stay relevant with skill sets needed for the adoption of next
generation technologies
Pre-requisites: Fundamentals of Computer Technology

Course Objectives: At the end of this course, students should be able to

- Explain Network Technologies and TCP/IP network layer model
- Design , implement and troubleshoot LANs and VLANs
- Use CISCO IOS commands for switching and routing configuration
Strategy: The course is organized on a practical approach. Students will get hands-on experience
applying the knowledge and commands learned on routers in CISCO Packet Tracer. Learners are
recommended to use their 420 hours of self-training to read the lecture notes, the recommended
course materials and to do LABs on Packet Tracer.
MODE OF EVALUATION
Attendance: 5%
Continuous assessment written test: 5%
Case Study 20%
Final Semester Exam: 70%
