SECTION TWO:
The UBC admission requires good completion of both general admission and degree-specific admission.
The general admission is a final grade of 70% in grade 11 or 12 English, since English is the major
language at UBC. It also requires an average 70% from high school. However, since I am an IB student, I
will have different requirements. A minimum of 24 points is required, with at least three HL (higher level)
courses completed. Additional points are also needed for Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge.
English is required at a minimum score of 3.
-A language 12 -A language 11
2. Take History 11 HL and 12 HL (useful for lawyer due to research and writing)
6. Pre-Cal 11 HL
SECTION THREE
The English Program at UBC offers two major options: A Major in Literature, Language, or combined. In
Literature, significant works will be studied to gain knowledge about the social, cultural, and intellectual
contexts. As for a major in Language, a variety of language areas will be covered, like the history and
structure of English, grammars, dialectology, etc.
After I have completed this program what future employment and career opportunities exist?
An English Undergraduate/Bachelors Degree is very useful, since it can be a foundation to many other
jobs. Researches have shown having this degree is very handy, since communication verbally and written
is an important aspect of all industries. Some education past students have chosen to go into are Law,
Journalism, and Marketing. Some direct jobs are English teachers, Communications, Media Relations,
etc.
