Behavior Contingency Plan (BCP) David Robinson #19

Undesirable Behavior Target: Speaking Out of Turn

This behavior is defined as: a student speaking without utilizing one of the following: (1)
Speaking without raising their hand first. (2) Speaking while others are speaking (interrupting).
(3) Speaking before being given permission (called-upon). This type of behavior detracts from a
classroom being effective to the maximum extent possible. Furthermore, effective
communication cannot be facilitated to the fullest extent possible which has a cascading effect
on others aspects of the classroom functioning efficiently.
Targeted Desired Behavior: Students will raise their hand above their head to indicate a desire
to speak. Students will not speak while someone else is speaking. Additionally, students will be
allowed to speak when called upon.
Positive Reinforcements:
1) Immediate R+ will happen when each group within the class decides to feed their pig.
They can turn in their grains of corn and move their associated figure (piglet) up the
predetermined, incrementally measured scale according to how many grains turned in.
2) Ongoing R+ will occur as each group reaches the end of the predetermined,
incrementally measured scale. Students will then receive predetermined reward(s)
accordingly (i.e. Math Kahoot, Computer Math Time, and/or a game of Math Bingo).
3) Overall R + will happen when the class, collectively, successfully completes all six piglet
race heats. At that point, the class will receive an ice cream party.
Interactive Learning Activity:
TEKS: 111.6. Grade 4, Adopted 2012. (4) Number and operations. The student applies
mathematical process standards to develop and use strategies and methods for whole number
computations and decimal sums and differences in order to solve problems with efficiency and
accuracy. The student is expected to: (B) determine products of a number and 10 or 100 using
properties of operations and place value understandings;

HOW I will Teach the Desired Behaviors: I will demonstrate to the class the desired behaviors,
then the students will demonstrate the desired behaviors, then we will display the desired
behaviors together continuously. Clear explanations will be provided along with examples
being given throughout the entire process.
HOW I will Teach the Plan: I will demonstrate to the students how the Pig Race will work. I will
explain to them that the desired behavior will result in students being given grains of corn. In
turn, the students will be able to feed their pig and move it up the incrementally measured
scale for each grain provided. Once the end of the predetermined, incrementally measured
scale is reached, the pig will be placed at the finish point and then reset to begin again.
Options Provided: Students will be able to customize their associated board piece (piglet).
They can name it, chose a different color, or even accessorize their assigned piglet.
Demonstrating the Necessary Items: Pig Race board, associated sticks with pigs attached,
grains of corn.
