Founded in 1920, Harbin Institute of Technology
(HIT) is one of the nine most prestigious universities
in China, the member of China 9 (C9), and a multi-
disciplinary, open, research-oriented national key
university.
So far, HIT has established the cooperative relations
with 156 universities and scientific research
institutions from 43 countries and regions, and HIT
has co-cultivated the postgraduates, held academic
conferences and cooperated in scientific research
with the other universities. The graduates of HIT
are active in the fields of astronautics, architecture,
management, politics and academic fields in all
over the world. There are over 1,500 international
students at HIT, who come from over 80 countries,
and their different cultural backgrounds have greatly
enriched the campus life.
HIT has formed a pattern of one university, three

campuses (Harbin in Heilongjiang Province,
Weihai in Shandong Province, Shenzhen in
Guangdong Province), there are 3,564 full-time
teachers and 38,000 students in Harbin Campus.
And there are two campuses and a science park,
where all the teaching activities and scientific
research activities of 20 schools are held. The majors

Study and Living Conditions
Each room of the international student
dormitories at HIT can contain 2 students with
independent bathroom (24-hour hot showers),
living room, IC card telephone (DDD and
IDD), lamp, TV, Internet access, desk and
chairs, bookshelf, and single bed. The study
room, small meeting room, shop, laundry are
available in the dormitories.
Library, activity center, gymnasium, canteen
in campus, besides, banks, supermarket, book
store, hospital, post office, photo shop and
other facilities make the campus life much more
convenient.
