Acts 8:14-17
Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria
HAD RECEIVED THE WORD OF GOD, they sent Peter and John to
them, who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might
receive the Holy Spirit. FOR AS YET HE HAD FALLEN UPON NONE
OF THEM. THEY HAD ONLY BEEN BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF
THE LORD JESUS. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the
Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:33
Therefore . . . having received from the Father the promise of the HOLY
SPIRIT, He (Jesus) poured out this which you now SEE AND HEAR.

Acts 19:5-6
And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them,
and they SPOKE WITH TONGUES AND PROPHESIED.
We are meant to be FILLED with His POWER,
FILLED with His LOVE,
and FILLED with His HOLY SPIRIT

TWO for PUBLIC use, and TWO for PERSONAL use

1. TONGUES FOR SPEAKING OTHER NATIONAL DIALECTS
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other
TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling in
Jerusalem Jews, devout men, FROM EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN. And
when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused,
because EVERYONE HEARD THEM SPEAK IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE. Then
they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Look, are not all
these who speak Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each in our own language
in which we were born? (Acts 2:4-8)

2. TONGUES FOR INTERPRETATION

He who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues,
UNLESS INDEED HE INTERPRETS, that the church may receive
edification. (1 Cor. 14:5)

3. TONGUES FOR INTERCESSION

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our distress. For we dont even know
what we should pray for, nor how we should pray. BUT THE HOLY
SPIRIT PRAYS FOR US WITH GROANINGS THAT CANNOT BE
EXPRESSED IN WORDS. And the Father who knows all hearts
knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers
in harmony with Gods own will. (Romans 8:26-27)

4. TONGUES FOR PERSONAL PRAYER & EDIFICATION

For if I pray in tongues, MY SPIRIT IS PRAYING, but I dont
understand what I am saying. Well then, what shall I do? I will do both.
I WILL PRAY IN THE SPIRIT, and I will pray in words I understand. I
will sing in the spirit, and I will sing in words I understand.

4. TONGUES FOR PERSONAL PRAYER & EDIFICATION
I speak with tongues MORE than you all. (1 Cor. 14:14-15)

But you, beloved, BUILDING YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith, praying
in the Holy Spirit. Jude 20

He who speaks in a tongue EDIFIES HIMSELF (1 Cor. 14:4)

I wish you ALL spoke with tongues. (1 Cor. 14:5)

TO RECEIVE
ASK IN FAITH

Luke 11:11-13
If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a
stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a
fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? IF YOU
then, being evil, know how to GIVE GOOD GIFTS TO YOUR
CHILDREN, HOW MUCH MORE WILL YOUR HEAVENLY
FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THOSE WHO ASK HIM!

James 1:6-7

But LET HIM ASK IN FAITH, with no doubting, for he who doubts is
like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that
man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.

KNOWLEDGE by means of the same Spirit, to another FAITH by the

same Spirit, to another GIFTS OF HEALING by that one Spirit, to10

another MIRACULOUS POWERS, to another PROPHECY
