This form is for calculating the volume contained in a conical stockpile.

The actual tonnage is calculated based on the bulk density of the material.

This form is for calculating the struck capacity of a bin or a silo. It does not
include any peaking above the top of the bin. In addition, due to form a pile,
the actual, or usable capacity, when handling solids, will be less than the
calculated volume. This can be accounted for by calculating the top as a
cone. Using a height of zero, and only inputting the cone angle (angel of repose)
this can be used to calculate the capacity of a conical pile.

To use enter the required data in the highlighted cells

Bin or Silo Capacity
assumes a circular shape, also can be used for piles if angle of repose is known
Diameter (D) 10 ft Enter bin circumference of the bin
Height (H) 12 ft the height of the bin (side wall)
Cone Angle (A) 60 deg and the angle of the cone (cone angle
Circumference 31.42 ft is measured from horizontal).
Cone Height (h) 8.66 ft
Total Height 20.66 ft

Volume
Cylinder 942.48 cubic ft
Cone 226.72 cubic ft
Total 1,169.20 cubic ft
