Farm SAFE especially over the

age people, aged 18 to 64, who are on a low
income or out of work. It will be introduced in
Free Events over the Summer Northern Ireland on a phased geographical
basis from September 2017.

How will it affect you and the

Delivered by Advice NI, this FREE half day


training session focuses on the most significant
reform to Social Security since the inception of
the Welfare State. It provides participants with
an overview of which means tested benefits
Universal Credit replaces, how entitlement is
calculated, how it works for different groups of
people interfacing with the benefit and when it
will be implemented in the different geographical
areas of Northern Ireland.

The session is FREE and open to all of our


members and Community / Voluntary groups
working with those affected by Welfare
Reform (e.g. Advice Agencies, Rural Support
Networks, Community Groups, Housing
Associations, Food Banks, Faith Groups
etc.).

FREE WORKSHOPS FIRST STEPS WOMENS CENTRE
FIRE SAFETY IN THE COMMUNITY OPEN DAY
Wed 9th August 2017, 11am - 4pm.
This training is open to Trust staff, volunteers and staff
working in other statutory, community or voluntary
organisations.

Course Title: Identifying and Reducing Fire Risk within


the Community

Aim of the Course: To help reduce accidental house fires in


the SHSCT area.

Learning objectives: To be aware of:


the common causes of fire and how to prevent fire in
the home.
the factors that place some individuals at greater risk of
fire.
sources of fire safety information.
To know how to establish a Partnership Agreement
with the NIFRS and what this entails.
To demonstrate to SHSCT staff how to make a referral
for a Free Home Fire Safety Check to the NIFRS for
the benefit of vulnerable patients, clients.

Who should attend: Staff or volunteers (all sectors) working


with individuals and families at risk of fire, particularly those
doing home visits or working in the community.

This course is open to SHSCT staff as well as staff/volunteers


within other statutory, community or voluntary based
organisations, who work with groups that are at higher risk of
fire including: single parents, BME families, older people,
anyone with impaired mobility including people with an
impairment (sensory, physical, mental) or health condition
that would impact on their ability to acknowledge and respond
to an emergency in the home.

The 10,000 Voices Initiative

Patient experience is recognised as a key element in the


delivery of quality healthcare. In line with this, the Public
Health Agency is carrying out an extensive piece of work
across all Health and Social Care Trusts, with the aim of
introducing a more patient-focused approach to services
and shaping future healthcare in Northern Ireland. The
Initiative is called 10,000 Voices. Unlike other healthcare
questionnaires, we want to read about overall experience
and how this made our patient/clients feel. It gives them an
opportunity to highlight anything important, such as what
they particularly liked or disliked about the experience.

The information is gathered using surveys and can


be completed by hard copy or via the internet at
www.10000voices.info. You will be directed to click
on one of the links you require.
