Pastors Corner
I am pleased to introduce our most recent hire at the church,
Ms. Marcia (pronounced, Mar-CEE-uh) Souza. She was
hired as our Financial Secretary in early June of this year.
Marcia moved to our area (Dingmans Ferry) last December,
to be near her boyfriend and his three children. Marcia lived
the first sixteen years of her life in Brazil before moving to Fall
River, Massachusetts. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania,
Marcia worked at St. Annes Hospital in Fall River. She has
extensive computer experience, which has helped her learn the position very
quickly. Marcia shares that she really enjoys the working environment at our
church and the people with whom she interacts each day.
Marcia replaces Ms. Cyndie Faunce, who officially retired from the Financial
Secretary position in anticipation of a move to Western Pennsylvania in late summer or the fall. Cyndie trained
Marcia for about a month before enjoying her final day in the office on June 27. The staff and all our members
will greatly miss Cyndie, who was on staff since August 2008. When Marcia was asked about working with
Cyndie, she said this: Cyndie is awesome! She is so friendly, and taught me everything I need to know about
the position. I know Cyndie believes she is leaving things in good hands with Marcia, and I can say as pastor,
I always appreciate a good and smooth transition between employees!
The position of Financial Secretary is best thought of as accounts receivable. This person is responsible for
making sure all of our Sunday offerings are properly counted and posted to the correct categories. She works
with the counters on Monday morning, then makes sure everything is safely deposited in the bank. She also
makes sure memorial donations are properly documented and Thank-yous sent to contributors, among other

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Kenneth Ladlee, devoted
husband of 49 years of Betty Ladlee. Ken passed away after a lengthy
illness on Sunday, July 2, after being moved to VNA Hospice. Ken was
raised in our church and was part of a confirmation class in the 1960s
which included Tom Balcik, Sue Werkheiser, and Bill Zacharias. Ken and

FAITH PROMISE UPDATE

The General Board of Global Ministry supports more than 1000 health
related projects across the globe. Now there is a new initiative. Because every
year nearly 6 million children under the age of 5 die of preventable diseases,
the UMC has pledged to reach 1 million children with life saving intervention by
2020. This GLOBAL HEALTH PROJECT* is one of our Partners.
Prayer requests from SPANISH HEALTH MINISTRY* continue to be for
new staff members, for Health Concerns for Dona Sensenig, the Director of
SHM and people in difficult situations because of their immigration status.
Dona has need for possible back surgery due to congenital defect of vertebrae.
The report for the Hispanic Bible Conference was that it was successful and
they had 98 people go. 2 adults and 1 child accepted Christ and everyone was
impacted by the excellent study of James.
Dona writes: Please express our deep gratitude to ESUMC for their
ongoing prayer and financial support. We appreciate it very much. God bless
East Stroudsburg Church and may God continue to use you for His honor and
glory!
It is surely inspiring to hear of the 100 FOLD STUDIO* project in
Battambang,Cambodia. Chris & Kelly Kulp are there working on the campus of
the University of the Nations. If you go online and type in 100foldstudio.org, a
picture comes up of a building and its a video. The view of the campus is
fantastic.*
Stay in tune for more information about Luke Billman and his family. They
have returned to the States, to Phila, to open a mission similar to SHORES OF
