Monitoring Messages

Use

With the message monitor in SAP NetWeaver Administrator, you can monitor the processing of messages on the

local Advanced Adapter Engine. You can use message monitoring in the following cases:

To create an overview of message processing. Message overview gives you an overview of message

processing as well as two different modes for searching for messages.

To track the status of messages.

To find errors that have occurred and to establish what caused them.

You can search for messages that were persisted in the database, or for messages that have already been archived.

Monitoring ABAP Messages

If you are using a dual usage type engine, the ABAP messages are also listed in this message monitor. If you want to

monitor ABAP messages only, you can select the relevant ABAP component in Show Messages By field dropdown

list. You can also use the Advanced filter section to specify the technical attributes for filtering ABAP messages.

Prerequisites

The user account you use should be assigned to one of the Process Integration monitoring roles. For more

information about which roles allow you to view and modify messages, see Monitoring Roles .

Procedure

Accessing Message Monitor

Do one of the following:

Open a browser and go to http://[host]:[port]/pimon to access the Process Integration tools.

Then choose Monitoring Adapter Engine Message Monitoring .

Open a browser and go to http://[host]:[port]/nwa to access SAP NetWeaver Administrator.


Then choose SOA Monitoring Message Monitoring .

In the message monitor, you can access the message overview or search for persisted or archived messages as

described below.

Consider that the time displayed in all sections in the message monitor is in one of the following formats:

When the system and browser you use to access the message monitor are configured properly to your time

zone, the time is displayed according to this local time zone.

When you access the message monitor using a system and browser where the time zone is not set, the time

is displayed according to the time zone of the remote system you are accessing.

Displaying the Message Overview

The message overview gives you the number of messages that are in a particular processing status in a specified

time period. To obtain an overview of the current status of message processing, choose the Message Overview tab.

Searching Messages

1. To start searching for persisted or archived messages, choose the Database tab or the Archive tab,

respectively.

2. To find a message by status and time, select the required message status and then specify the time period

in which the message has been processed.

Note

Searching by status is possible only for the messages displayed in the Database tab.

3. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.5 SPS 05 to display only B2B messages, from the Search In dropdown list,

select B2B Messages.

Note

Please, note that to be able to do this your user should have B2B Monitoring role

(SAP_XI_MONITOR_B2B).
4. To find a message by specific information contained in the message header or the payload,

choose Advanced .

5. To find a message specific to a particular component, in Messages from Component dropdown list, select

the component and choose Go.

For example, if you want to view messages related to Integration Engine, select the same from dropdown list

and choose Go.

6. Choose Go to start your search.

Result

The system lists the messages found in a table. You can select a message to see its details. For more information,
