ARTICLE 7: Light felonies

Light felonies are infractions of the law with a penalty of arestomayor or fine not exceeding
Php 200
General rule Punishable only if consummated
o Reason the offense produces light and insignificant moral and material damages
that it is acceptable for the public to provide a light penalty for its consummation; or
if they are consummated, the damage is light that penalty is not needed.
Exception: Attempted/frustrated felony against persons or property
o It presupposes moral depravity - moral corruption or wickedness, thus it should be
punishable even at attempted or frustated stage
o Only the principal and accomplices are criminally liable; Accessories are not
punishable
Light Felonies under RPC (STAMI)
o Slight physical injuries
o Theft - under RPC Article 309 when the value doesnt exceed Php 200 or the
penalty is aresto mayor
o Alteration of boundary marks
o Malicious mischief
o Intriguing against honor
