In Manitou Springs we removed the word ‘church’ to emphasize the drastic change to our system. That was hard. Now, in Detroit, we’re keeping the word ‘church’ to
emphasize that the drastic change is to the church. This is harder. There is an expectation of how we as American people are to experience church that we must see
changed.

We must equip with an expected return in mind
Avoiding the trap of assuming that this element alone is the
means and the end goal
Becoming seeker sensitive vs. Holy Spirit sensitive
Misunderstanding the purpose of the church (house of prayer vs.
house of other stuff)
Not doing what’s necessary to maintain Holy Spirit freedom
Satisfaction with other focuses (teaching, small groups, etc.) with
a diminished emphasis on the power of the Holy Spirit
Insufficient time to devote to leading people into this encounter
