Abstract
Renal leiomyomas are rare benign tumours of the kidney originating
from muscle cells. They are usually found by an autopsy,
whether the patient is asymptomatic or has symptoms (i.e., abdominal/
flank pain, hematuria, palpable mass). Today the widespread
use of ultrasonography and computed tomography has increased
the detection of clinically asymptomatic renal leiomyomas. The
differential diagnosis between leiomyomas and other malignant
lesions (above all renal cell carcinoma or leiomyosarcoma) is still
possible by histological examination. Radiological examinations
are not sufficient for the differential diagnosis. Renal leiomyomas
have no aggressive behaviour and they usually do not metastasize.
The prognosis, after surgery, is excellent without recurrence. We
report a case of leiomyoma in a 31-year-old man who presented
hematuria and flank pain. We also review the literature and provide
a summary of clinical, radiological and histological features
of renal leiomyomas.

ABSTRACT
Endometrial hyperplasia and uterine myoma represent common major public health problem for
women. It developed as a response of increased exposure to unopposed estrogen, but there has not
been a single study about direct relationship between endometrial hyperplasia and uterine myoma
was published yet. The aim of this study was to know the relationship between endometrial
hyperplasia and uterine myoma among gynecological patients in Margono Soekardjo Public State
Hospital Purwokerto. The study included a total of 60 gynecological patients who underwent
hysterectomy or curettage procedure in Margono Soekardjo Public State Hospital Purwokerto, taken
by simple random sampling method. We excluded 14 women, 4 women who had already been
menopause, 6 women who where not undergoing hysterectomy or curettage procedure and 4 women
whose the specimens could not be assessed. 46 endometrial and myometrial samples were collected.
The analytic study used cross sectional study design. Table of frequency and Kappa coefficient used
as univariate analysis, while crosstabs and Chi-Square test was used as bivariate analysis. The study
showed endometrial hyperplasia and uterine myoma proportion in this study was 45,7% and 63%,
respectively. Prevalence ratio for uterine myoma in patients with endometrial hyperplasia was 0,32
(95% confidence interval [CI]: 0,029-0,468). Chi-Square test showed significant relationship between
endometrial hyperplasia and uterine myoma among gynecological patients in Margono Soekardjo
Public State Hospital Purwokerto (p-value = 0,001).

ABSTRACT
Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) is a gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumor, the incidence of
which is about 3% of gastrointestinal neoplasms, most commonly found in stomach. GIST is rare in
children although it can be found in all ages with the highest incidence at 60-80 years old. Incidence
ratio on man : women = 1 : 1, and there is no racial predilection. The diagnosis of GIST usually could
be made based on radiologic and histopathologic examinations, but in several cases
immunochemistry tests are needed for fi nal diagnosis. A case of GIST was reported in a young girl,
8,5 year old, who came with swelling of belly and vomiting as chief complaints. Radiographs of
throrax and abdomen revealed the presence of ascites and eliminated the possibilities of ileus and
peritonitis. CT scan of abdomen reported the presence of a mass with relatively clear border on the
wall of major curvature of gastic fundus. USG of abdomen only found a mass above pancreatic tail.
On barium meal examination, it was seen a mass with clear border, smooth surface at fundus area
until the body of stomach.
