Overview
Curriculum and professional standards are so important in the field of education, not only
for teachers to stay on track, but to enforce teachers to adhere to while teaching students Without
standards in place there would be no uniformity in the teaching profession and students would be
learning topics based on their teachers interest rather than a standardized curriculum base. In
order to level playing field for students, there must be curriculum standards so that students are
taught the same subject matter and have an equal opportunity to succeed. Below is a chart,

jurisdiction. Used as a resource for teachers, it provides them with ideas for teaching these

describe the skills and knowledge students need to learn effectively in an increasingly digital

Just like the NYS Standards, the Ontario Curriculum standards act as a guide for teachers
to maintain uniformity in content taught throughout the schools in Ontario. The standards
provide the required course content so that teachers can plan their lessons accordingly. Listed

uphold the honour and dignity of the teaching profession, in order to promote public trust and to

Conclusion
The artifacts listed above not only demonstrate my ability to lesson plan in order to meet
pedagogy is of the upmost importance, but there are other aspects of my personality and abilities
that will make me a great teacher that cannot be demonstrated through material things.
Throughout this section, I chose artifacts from my studies to show how I can use my education in
have gained throughout my studies at DYouville and Medaille, pair them with my ability to
connect with children, and become a teacher that inspires students to reach their full potential. In
