School Yellow Jacket golf
team tied with Southwest
for the top spot in the fifth
of the six Imperial Valley
League golf meets to keep
their title hopes alive
with just the final league
competition set for Las
Barancas Golf Course in
Yuma later this month.
The Yellow Jackets and
the Eagles each shot 478
totals to get to within a
point of league-leading
Brawley and those three
squads are the only ones
that have a chance for the
league team crown.
Brawley finished
in third with a 493 to-
tal while Imperial was

solar capacity last year,
slowed by charges im-
posed on Arizona solar

Phoenix still saw gains
in its solar capacity last
year, going from 147
megawatts of installed
photovoltaic capacity at
the end of 2015 to a total
of 165 megawatts by the
end of 2016, enough ca-
pacity to power about
24,000 homes.
But that 12 percent
increase lagged well be-
hind the growth of 56
percent nationally. The
report said U.S. installed
capacity went from 27
gigawatts to 42 gigawatts
over the same period.

month: Cucumbers

This months featured
fruit by the California
Women for Agriculture
is the cucumber.
Did you know that 96
percent of a cucumbers
weight is actually water
and that there are two
categories in which cu-
cumbers are identified:
pickling and slicing?
More often than not,
people are introduced to
cucumbers in the form
of a pickle, whether its
sweet, dill or bread and
butter.
Cucumbers can be
found in a variety of
dishes, whether served
raw in a salad or pickled
in a side dish.
The bumpy texture of a
cucumber is what makes
this fruit simply unique
and easy to identify from

ter freshly picked.
To enjoy a quick and
easy snack that is sure
to curb your hunger and
feed your appetite, try
scraping off the cucum-
bers skin, cut the melon
into medium slices, toss
into a bowl, add vinegar,
a dash of salt and a dash
of pepper.
