Vision Through effective collaboration we will achieve comprehensive success for every student.
Course Description: Students will investigate biological systems at the molecular, cellular, and macro
biological level. Hands-on laboratory exercises incorporating cellular biology, genetics, DNA technology,
evolution, and ecology will be provided to assist students in their understanding of biological themes. Projects
and reading assignments maybe required with each unit of instruction
SB1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to analyze the nature of the relationships between structures
and functions in living cells.
SB2. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to analyze how genetic information is expressed in cells.
SB3. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to analyze how biological traits are passed on to successive
generations.
SB4. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to illustrate the organization of interacting systems within
single-celled and multi-celled organisms.
SB5. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to assess the interdependence of all organisms on one another
and their environment.

Progress Reporting: Progress reports will be issued to all students every three weeks. Students will receive a
copy of all graded assignments to date at the three week marking period.
Materials: 3-5 subject spiral notebook (optional), pencils, pens, loose-leaf college ruled paper, & erasers
Parent Conferences: Parent conferences are held the 4th Tuesday of every month from 3:50 p.m. 4:50 p.m.
Teachers are available in the Commons for parent conferences (no appointment necessary). Please email the
teacher directly to schedule conferences at an alternative time.
Attendance Policy:
1. Excused Absences: Assignments will be accepted 1 day late for 90% credit. If a students assignments
are 5 or more days late, they must meet with their instructor to determine whether or not it can be made
up. Flexibility is granted under certain circumstances.
2. In-School Suspension: Students assigned an in-school suspension may make up work. However, it is
the students responsibility to obtain such make-up work from classroom. Any assignment turned in after
5 days will have to be approve by your instructor.
I read, reviewed with my parents, and understand the guidelines and expectations for this course. I have
also received and reviewed a copy of the students Lab Safety Contract.
