ABSTRACT
Vitamin A is an eye supplements and seed cells of eye photoreceptor, and an estimated
two hundred and fifty million children in the World blind due to vitamin A deficiency. Prevention
of vitamin A deficiency are still based on the administration of high dose vitamin A capsules
every 6 Months in Februari and August. Supplementation on Posyandu Rong Nunggal, Lepelle
Village in 2016 showed that 32.5% of Toddler do not receive vitamin A capsules.
This research was conducted with observational analytic approach, the population is all
Mothers who have Toddler in Posyandu Rong Nunggal Lepelle Village. Sampling methode was
used simple random sampling with 31 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire
and analyzed using coefficient contingency Lambda test.
The results showed that 15 (48%) of Mothers has less knowledge, 19 (61%) Mothers
has a negative attitude and irregular as many as 15 (48%). Coefficient contingency Lambda test
results, shows there is a relationship between knowledge and giving regularity vitamin A to
Toddler in Posyandu Rong Nunggal, Lepelle (p=0.011). There is a relationship between
Mothers attitudes and giving regularity vitamin A to Toddler in Posyandu Rong Nunggal,
Lepelle (p=0.026).
Mother's knowledge in Posyandu Rong Nunggal is less, mother's attitude is negative
and almost half are irregular in giving supplements vitamin A. Suggestions for health-related
institutions to be more often provide additional education or counseling on the toddler's mother
about the importance of vitamin A supplementation on schedule.
