This is the second file in my Dragonlance stand-alone system for the D&D adventure game system. This
file contains allies, adversaries and villains. Each will be utilized in specific adventures in the Dragonlanc
universe that will be included in a future file.
The allies were designed to represent each character's actions in the book. Some allies perform like
previous NPCs in the game series where they activate during the villain phase using a standard attack rol
however the action of certain allies is controlled by a unique feature using a die roll to determine their
action. The random roll adds an element of surprise (and risk) to their actions. At the start of the game,
each ally is assigned to a hero. An ally moves with the controlling hero through the game, unless the
controlling hero chooses to transfer control to another hero. In order to do this, the two heroes must be on
the same tile. When transfering control, the ally doesn't activate in that turn. If the controlling hero is
brought to 0 HP, the ally can transfer to another hero that ends his hero phase on the ally's tile, otherwise
the ally will not activate until the controlling hero uses a healing surge. Allies will be used in specific
adventures I will create.
Another new concept is the adversary. The adversary is also controlled by a hero, however the player
cannot choose to transfer the adversary to another hero (unlike an ally). The adversary can be attacked b
a hero or ally (with certain restrictions written on the adversary's card), however do not provide experience
when defeated. Adversaries will be used in specific adventures I will create.
The villains include the main antagonists in the books- the Dragon Highlords, their Dragon mounts, and tw
main undead characters- Lord Soth and the lich Fistandantilus. Some villains are relatively easy to defeat
while others will prove to be exceptionally challenging.
In future files, I will add more heroes- Laurana, Tika, Gilthanas, Flint and black-robed Raistlin- as well as
Dragonlance specific items, encounters and adventures. I'm hoping that designing adventures could
become a larger group activity among BGG'ers. Some ideas for adventures include these from the origina
trilogy: Find Disks of Mishakal, Release the Slaves, Travel to Tarsis, Recover the Dragon Orb at Silvanes
Recover the Dragon Orb at Ice Wall, Defend Solamnia, Defend Palanthas, Recover Hammer of Kharas,
Travel to Neraka, Protect the Everman, The Truth in Sanction, Recruit the good Dragons, Defeat the Dark
Queen
I am interested in any feedback you have, and hopefully some more volunteers to develop adventures an
