SANGKURIANG AND TANGKUBAN PERAHU MOUNTAIN
Once, there was a kingdom in Priangan Land. There lived a happy family.
They were a father in form of dog,his name was Tumang, a mother which was
called Dayang Sumbi, and a child which was called Sangkuriang.
One day, Dayang Sumbi asked her son to go hunting with his lovely dog,
Tumang. After hunting all day, Sangkuriang began desperate and worried
because he hunted no deer. Then he thought to shot his own dog. Then he took the
dog liver and carried home.
Soon Dayang Sumbi found out that it was not deer liver but Tumangs, his
own dog. So, She was very angry and hit Sangkuriangs head. In that incident,
Sangkuriang got wounded and scar then cast away from their home.
Years go bye, Sangkuriang had travelled to many places and finally arrived at a
village. He met a beautiful woman and felt in love with her. When they were
discussing their wedding plans, The woman looked at the wound in Sangkuriangs
head. It matched to her sons wound who had left several years earlier. Soon she
realized that she felt in love with her own son.
She couldnt marry him but how to say it. Then, she found the way. She
needed a lake and a boat for celebrating their wedding day. Sangkuriang had to
make them in one night. He built a lake. With a dawn just moment away and the
boat was almost complete. Dayang Sumbi had to stop it. Then, she lit up the
eastern horizon with flashes of light. It made the cock crowed for a new day.
Sangkuriang failed to marry her. She was very angry and kicked the boat.
It felt over and became the mountain of Tangkuban Perahu Bandung.

Your excellencies committee of this speech contest and all of my beloved friends
First of all, I would like to give my greatest thanks to Allah the Almighty, Who has
been giving us all His Mercies and Blessings, because without those all, its impossible for us
to be here to participate in this speech contest. Sholawat and Salam be to Muhammad, our
messenger who has given us many teachings to live in this world and hereafter.
Ladies and gentlemen
We can see evidence of these changes all the time. Lets take the Eurovision Song
Contest as an example. Whatever we might think of the contest itself one thing that has changed
recently is that now countries can stop to sing in English. In the last festival fourteen of the
twenty five competing countries asked for the rules to be changed to allow them to sing in
English. They argued that singing in their own language would put them at a disadvantage. I
suspect that in a few years time all twenty-five countries will be singing in English..
Therefore, lets learn English more intensively for the better of our future. I think
enough. I hope my speech will be useful for ourlife, in this world and hereafter. Please, forgive
me if you found many mistakes in speech. Finally, I say thank you very much for your kind

For many years now we have been referring to English as a global language as the
language of communication and technology. Everybody seems to be learning English and it
isnt uncommon to see English being used as a means of communication between, lets see, a
German scientist and an Italian politician. These days, if you dont know English, you are in
danger of being excluded from whats going on in education, at work and especially in the
world of technological advances.

Very soon English will be the second language of all the people in the world. This is
happening while I am speaking to you. We cant be certain of how long the process will take
but there is no doubt that it will happen and my bet is that it will happen sooner rather than
later.
 THE LEGEND OF RAWA PENING
Once upon a time, there was a little boy, who was poor, dirty, and smelly, came into a little
village. He was very hungry and weak. He knocked at every door and asked for some food, but
nobody cared about him. Nobody wanted to help the little boy. Finally, a generous old woman
helped him. She gave him shelter and a meal. When the boy wanted to leave, the old woman
gave him a lesung, a big wooden mortar for pounding rice.
She reminded him, Please remember, if there is a flood you must save yourself. Use
this lesung as a boat.
The little boy was very happy and thanked the old woman. The little boy continued his journey.
While he was passing through the village, where he had asked for food, he saw many people
ghatering on the field. The boy came closer and saw stick stuck in the ground. People
challenged each other to pull that stick. Everybody tried, but nobody succeeded.
Can I try? asked the little boy.
The crowd laughed mockingly. The boy wanted to try his luck so he stepped forward and pulled
out the stick. He could do it very easily. Everybody was dumbfounded. Suddenly, from the
hole left by stick, water spouted out. It did not stop until it flooded the village. And no one was
saved from the water except the little boy and the generous old woman who gave him shelter
and meal. As she told him, he used the lesung as a boat and picked up the old woman. The
whole village became a huge lake.
It is now known as Rawa Pening Lake in Salatiga, Central Java, Indonesia.
