1. Use exclusive preparatory materials developed by Span
International, ASSE and Datachem.
2. I read one statement in the SPAN material, it says your
objective is to see the time and not to build the watch.
3. These materials will provide good guidelines and you
need to note down some important points and formulae
separately as you go through material.
4. BCSP provides formula sheets in the exam and you need to
be familiar with all these formuale and what units each
formula is used.
5. You should make a note of important OSHA regulations,
CFRs from 50 CFRs, important NFPA and ANSI codes related to
HSE.
6. Also there will be many questions on Standard deviations and
you should be familiar with calculator functions. It is easy to
do SD problems with scientific calculators
Top Ten Tips
7. There will be good number of questions on health illnesses and
diseases caused due to the exposure of gases, dust in the work
environment. Please make a separate list of all diseases and
caused by what exposure?. As you go through the material, you
will realize these things.
8.Some problems will be asked to calculate Fire pump capacities,
hydrant network design etc. and focus on these things.
9. There will be good number of questions on design of tank
bunds for a cluster of tanks, applied mechanical problems like
tension & compression forces etc.
10. I suggest to make a beginning with ASSE CD and take trial
tests of SPAN. You should score minimum of 85-90 % in trial
tests to be sure of success.
