SPEECH ABOUT EYE

CATARACTS

Good afternoon ladies and gentleman, my name is Ni Luh Putu Oktawati on this happy
occasion I will convey the theme of eye. today I will explain about the understanding of the
eye, eye function and one of the diseases that can affect the eyes

The first I will explain about the definition of the eye. The human eye is the organ that
gives us sight. The human eye is the organ which gives us the sense of light, allowing us to
learn more about the surrounding world than any of the other five senses.

And then I will discuss the general function of the eye. We use our eyes in almost
everything we do, whether reading, working, watching television, writing a letter, driving a
car, and countless other activities. Sight is the most precious of the five senses, and many
people fear blindness more than any other disability. The eye allows us to see and interpret
the shapes, colors, and dimensions of objects in the world by processing the light they reflect
of give off. The eye changes light rays into electrical signals, then sends them to the brain,
which interprets these electical signals as visual images. The eyeball is set in a protective
cone-shaped cavity in the skull called the orbit or socket and measures approximately one
inch in diameter. The orbit is surrounded by layers or soft, fatty tissue which protect the eye
and enable it to turn easily. Six muscles regulate the motion of the eye. Among the more
important parts of the human eye are the iris, cornea, lens, retina, conjunctiva, the macula,
and the optic nerve.

Description of the little eyes, now i will discuss one eye disease cataract ie. A
cataract is the clouding of the natural lens inside the eye. This causes images to become
distorted or blurred, bright colors to become dull and nighttime driving to become more
difficult. Cataracts are the leading cause of visual loss in adults over 55. While cataracts can
be caused by other factors, the majorities of cataracts are simply caused by natural aging and
cannot be prevented.

Some of the signs and symptoms of cataract that is

1. Clouded, blurred or dim vision
2. Increasing difficulty with vision at night
3. Sensitivity to light and glare
4. Seeing "halos" around lights
5. Frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescriptionFading or yellowing of
colors
6. Double vision in a single eye

Most cataracts develop when aging or injury changes the tissue that makes up your
eye's lens. Some cataracts are related to inherited genetic disorders that cause other health
problems and increase your risk of cataracts. Cataracts can also be caused by other eye
conditions, medical conditions such as diabetes, trauma or past eye surgery. Long-term use of
steroid medications, too, can cause cataracts to develop.

The last one I will describe the treatment of cataracts is. The only effective treatment
for cataracts is surgery. When to consider cataract surgery Talk with your eye doctor about
whether surgery is right for you. Most eye doctors suggest considering cataract surgery when
your cataracts begin to affect your quality of life or interfere with your ability to perform
normal daily activities, such as reading or driving at night.

So the conclusion of all diseases harmful to us, then correct any lifestyle such as diet,
rest and exercise regularly. Thank you for your time, sorry if there are mistakes and good
afternoon
