*Why* are Jordan Peterson's philosophical

For the record, I know next to nothing about the
guy, other than that you guys seem to dislike him.
My younger brother idolizes him, but I'm skeptical
that Peterson is more than a charlatan. So I looked
at the relevant threads on /r/askphilosophy, but I
don't think they really provide reasons to believe
that Peterson doesn't know what he's talking
about. Instead, these threads merely say just that:
that Peterson doesn't know what he's talking
about. I would be very appreciative if someone
could please explain to me why Peterson doesn't
know what he's talking about, on topics ranging
from gender pronouns, transgenderism, post
modernism, neo-Marxism, what have you. I don't
know anything about any of these fields, so
citations and reading suggestions would also be
very appreciated.

First time here? Welcome! You ask questions;
we provide answers, A great resource to check
before you ask a question is the Stanford
Encyclopedia of Philosophy. You may also want
to check our list of frequently asked questions to
see if your question has already been answered.
Don't be afraid if you think your question is too
simple, AskPhilosophy defines itself less by the
sort of questions that are accepted than by the
sort of answers they can expect to receive. Feel
free to ask about topics you're studying in

level responses to questions show familiarity
with the question, and ideally that they make
reference to the existing literature on that topic.
