Summary of the Plot
- An aspiring Canadian author interviews the
Indian storyteller Pi Patel to hear the firsthand
account of his adventures. Pi recounts his
upbringing in French-occupied India, where his
father owned a zoo. When Pi's family business
fails, they went on a sea voyage to Canada to
begin a new life. One night aboard their Japanese
cargo ship in the middle of the ocean, a violent
and deadly storm hits and sinks. He survives in a
lifeboat with several of their zoo animals,
 including a fearsome Bengal tiger. In a struggle
to survive, Pi and the tiger forge an unexpected
connection that gives him daily motivation to
live. Life of Pi is a tale of faith, hope, and
the fight to survive.

- No, for me it is not better to add The in the title, it
means the story doesn't limit itself to Pi. Ideas,
people, religions anything with the spark of life all
follow, to some degree,

- The main setting in the movie is in Pacific ocean.There
are so much water,so the setting is very wide open
ocean,Pi in a lifeboat having aggressive animals.

- Nope, the story is based on a book of same name
and is a work of fiction.

- because the story is all about Pi lifeboat so the

 - Pi is the main protagonist in the movie.

- I think yes, we all know that the movie is based
on a book, of course it is a fiction and
imagination of the author. But we can relate our
life in the story example, In our journey of life
with challenges, struggles, Sometimes our faith
is shaken by various factors. But at last the
believers are the survivor.

PLOT

A. What is the basic conflict in the story?

- The basic conflict is the survival of Pi. Himself against the
natural environment. Pi is forced to battle the elements,
animals, and a carnivorous island while stranded at sea. Each
of these conflicts challenges Pi's bid to survive at sea.
B. What are the striking incidents in the story?
- The striking incidents in the story that I noticed is the
tiger(Richard Parker) tries to eat Pi. Pi is alone except for
a man-eating tiger. He endures through cleverness, prayer, and
willpower.

MESSAGE

A. Was the message effectively conveyed in the movie?

- Yes, the movie is all about survival so we can see Pi
having strong faith, At some point, There is not only
one message in the story. It has full of symbolisms
and about how God plays a role in our lives and how we
lead our lives in general.
III.REACTION PAPER

The title itself says the story Life of Pi. I saw the movie poster, first thing comes to mind
is the story is all about survival, it is all about his lifeboat with a tiger. As I was watching the
movie I thought at the beginning that this would be a boring movie. The movie centered on the
life of the character Pi. Later I realized that the adventure that Pi went through can be related to
some of us. Some say those events that Pi went through where just manifestation of his
delusional state because he was a shipwreck cast away. Alone in the middle of the sea with only
a Tiger to accompany him, trying to fight for survival, its amazing to think how the hell could he
have survived.

Life of Pi is an intense, emotional story of survival and triumph against the odds, with
themes of faith, friendship, and perseverance. I think the movie is a rated PG because it has no
strong language, sexual contents, and bloods. The movie has lots pros than cons. For me the cons
only is the originality, the film has the same concept like other films with survival theme. The story
for me is predictable because it is about survival, but it has good plot. But there are many pros
here, the movie narrates an incredible story using the most beautiful special effects and great
actors. The unique and thrilling combination of an interesting plotline and beautiful direction
made Life of Pi a stunning movie. The movie is a fantastic revelation to opening up to the
ending. I like the the cinematography. The one I like is the visual effects, the best example is
when Pi saw the shark jumps in the ocean. The animation was also great and blended nicely. It's
hard to believe the amount of visual effects put into this film in order to achieve each screenplay
and animal. Not only were the graphics impressive, but the emotion achieved was impeccable.

All in all the movie was good , I do not have any recommendation in the movie.The movie is
rated PG so ages 10+ can watch this.Adults, teens even children can watch the movie because the
movie is easy to understand and very appealing to kids.Everyone can relate to the protagonist Pi
who struggle in life because of his faith he overcome this and survived. The film appeared on
numerous year end best lists, and is up for 11 Academy Awards, is a provocative, emotional film
examining the place of religion and relationships in the world with depth an ocean deep. Yeah! I
think it is worth watching.
