Objective:
To be able to retell the sequence of events in the story. Students should be able to identify parts
of the story including the beginning, middle, and end.

Create a cartoon strip retelling the story in correct sequence of events.

Audience:
The audience is friends and family, other first graders.

Format:
Cartoon strip- words and illustrations

Topic:
Retell the story: Include a Beginning, Middle, and End
Directions:
1. Read the story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.
2. Draw your own cartoon strip sequencing events from beginning to end. There should be
at least seven blocks within your cartoon strip
3. Share your cartoon strip with the class.

This week we are learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. You will use your
creativity to make a cartoon strip retelling the story from beginning to end.

To be able to write a first-person account about how it would feel to be the caterpillar on
Saturday.

Create a journal entry describing how it would feel physically and emotionally if they were the
caterpillar on Saturday

The audience is other caterpillars.

How did the caterpillar look on Saturday? How do you think he felt?

What is the life of a butterfly like, how does it look, how do you think it feels to go through
metamorphosis?
