DL AMxx

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
DL AMxx

The DL AMxx simulators are HID (Human Interface device), therefore they don't require drivers to
be installed.

To install the CAI software please follow the below steps (as example DL AM20):

1. Install ActiveX Controls (this must be installed only one time for the first simulator (if you
have different AM simulators) and not be repeated for the others)
2. Install Student Navigator (DLnav) (this must be installed only one time for the first
simulator for AM and not be repeated for the others AM in case you have different AM
simulators)
3. Install Control Program (each simulator AM has own Control Program)
4. Install Training Software (English) (each simulator AM has own control Training Software)

At this point you have finished your installation and in your PC there will be created two main
folders: DLwebCtr and DLsoft and in Start Command you will have: DE LORENZO e Training
DL Configuration Program and DE LORENZO Autotronics Navigator (DLnav).
(NOTE: OS Windows 8: C:\DLsoft -> DLnav)

From now on I continue explaining how you will proceed to verify and test only one simulator (for
example AM04); the same thing is identical to all simulators.

Connect AM04 to the PC and turn it on (on its display, if it has one, will appear Am04); the PC
must recognize that the simulator was turned on and will load the necessary drivers to establish
connection with it (HID compatible).

Any simulator, in stand alone configuration, cant perform nothing without software.

Click firstly on Start DE LORENZO eTraining DL Configuration Program

(NOTE: OS Windows 8: C:\DLwebCtr -> DLconf)
to choose your language, the following window will appear:

Set English Language and DO NOT tick Enable laboratory Connection and then click on save &
Exit.

Now click on Start DE LORENZO Autotronics Navigator, the next window will appear:

N.B.: if nothing happens or an error message appears, when you click on Navigator, be sure
that a file named WinRTUsb.dll is in the folder C:\Dlsoft, otherwise copy it from the main
installation software of the simulator or from the folder C:\Dlsoft\Dsim.

In case you dont have the English language for the above main window, go to Main Menu
Select new Language and tick again the desired one.

Now click on AM04 and the next main page of the AM04 simulator will be as follows:

This simulator, for example, is composed of four main lessons where there are theoretical lessons,
simulations, questions and troubleshooting.

Each one of the above lessons has simulations and chapters reserved to questions related to the
topics studied in the same lesson.

Click, for example, on The Otto cycle engine (LESSON 1), it will appear the next window (1.1.1):
this chapter 1.1.1 is dedicated to explain in detail the 4 stroke engine

Click, for example, on Simulation nr. 1 at the left in the same lesson (compression based plant), it
will appear the next window (1.1.5 Simulation 01):

If you click on Characteristics AM04, you can explore in detail all the components / devices /
switches / selectors / displays of the simulator.

Return back to the above window; from now and after setting the different switches/Selectors as
listed in the table you can begin the simulation by clicking on RUN.

The simulation window is the following:

N.B.: if anything happens when you click on RUN, be sure that a file named WinRTUsb.dll
is in the folder C:\Dlsoft\Dsim, otherwise copy it from the main installation software of the
simulator.

As you see, this window is composed of different sections (Digital Inputs, LED Outputs, Test
Points, Analog Inputs and Outputs) that are interactive with the simulator when we test it or when it
is in simulation mode; the other section Variables isnt accessible by the user but shows in real
time the values of the different variables related to the simulator.

To be sure that it is in simulation mode (and not in test mode) go to Main menu and click on
Options:

Check that all your settings are the same in the above window and then click on Save & Exit.
You need to close the application and click on Run again to establish the modified values.

When you close Options and return back to AM04 (Control Window) you must find at the top area
that it is in RUN MODE and STATUS OK.
N.B.: this window must always be opened during your simulation, if you close it your simulator
stops immediately and remains in the last configuration.

Proceed with your simulation in the main lesson and verify the behavior of your application.

The other icons in AM04 (Control Window) are: Digital Graph, Analog Graph, Status Analyzer
Parameters (if you highlight Digital Graph), Analog Graph Parameters (if you highlight Analog
Graph), Reset Graphs, Pause the Graphs and visualization of many instruments of different
parameters.

The first icon (F with scissors) is very important; when you open it you must insert a password
(each simulator has its own password and for each of them it is: amxx); for example for AM04 it is
am04.

You will have the list of all the faults that you can insert in this simulator (11 faults); it is enough to
click on it and then OK to insert and click on it after another time to disable the fault:

Some of those faults can be also inserted in the chapter Troubleshooting mentioned above.

NOTE:
FOR DL AM20, DL AM21 & DL AM22:

The first icon (F with scissors that means Faults) isnt important because the faults on these trainers
(DL AM20, DL AM21& DL AM22) can be inserted only acting on displays menu on the panel
(see chapter 2.1 Description and operation of the activating devices for the Faults menu).
