Trip to Apple Village

Our group was set to meet up at McDonalds by the Bayleaf at 7AM and the said time to
leave for the trip to Cainta, Rizal was 8AM. I was there by 7AM and I had noticed some people
who seem to wait for others, since I dont know all the members of the group, I didnt tried to
approach and ask them. Eventually, I learned that they are members of my group. Funny thing
was that we were observing each other while at the food chain and we both had no order so it
felt embarrassing to wait there like that. Then we still waited for the other two members but the
other one was not cooperating and answering the calls nor texting her location. Then the other
one we met by the arc of Intramuros on our way to the Manila City Hall. We waited for a bus to
Taytay, then by Quiapo, we were transferred to another GLiner bus. The funny thing about the
trip was that we each had our own seats with only Mcleiin sitting down by another group
member, a girl. Then we were seated in straight column, it seemed as if we didnt wanted to
group up, so we laughed it out. During the trip, I fell asleep because I had no sleep at all the
night before. When we were off the bus, at McDonalds Valley Golf, we noticed that we waited
by the same fast food chain, we had some laughs while waiting for the others there that were
near the area. Then we started the visit at around 10:30AM. We also rode tricycles back and
forth to the subdivision and barangay hall. It was so hot then but the trip was fun.

While walking through the community, we had noticed that the place was quiet and
peaceful. The streets were clean of any man made trash, only fallen and dried leaves were by the
streets. We also noticed that the houses had their own pets inside of their houses, common of
which are pet dogs that were usually located inside their closed gates. Each corner had street
names and their names are all fruits like apricot, orange, and others. The houses also had their
own set of plants, some had trees and gardens. They were fixing up a basketball court that
seemed to be a community effort for recreation. Their community hall was accommodating and
they had hospitable officials that were cooperative and easy to talk to. They also suggested some
projects that would help and assured that they werent forcing those to the group. Only a few
people were by the outside their houses. The place seemed so organized and well. These were
the strong points of the community.

The weak points of the community was their said sewage system, it is currently clogged
and now causing floods on the low parts of the community. The community also had a few
vacant lots that were untidy to look because these were not maintained. Despite the many trees
in the community, it is still too hot there especially during 10:30AM around 2PM. It also seems
too quiet there and a bit dull. And I had noticed that the location of the community is a bit far
from the hospital and they seem to have no health center that is near enough.

In order to help the apple village community, I would like to propose a basic first aid
seminar program that would orient them on basic skills on providing first aid during emergencies
and unfortunate incidents because first aid can save lives and it is great help in sustaining the life
of the victim while waiting for an ambulance or rescue team or arriving at a hospital. It would be
needing the help of associations such as Red Cross who share the knowledge of first aid and the
spirit of volunteering to others.

According to some members of the community it takes about 20-3o minutes to get to
the hospital from their barangay so first aid basics would be necessary in sustaining the life of
the victim of unfortunate incidents then it would also promote volunteering and cooperation
amongst members of the community. The seminar could be held by the hall or just set up tents
to accommodate the participants that would be at least 1 representative member of each family
in the community, age range from 13 to 45 years old. It would be a great help to the members of
the community and would promote the spirit of helping during calamities, unfortunate incidents,
accidents or other problems that would harm members of the community.
