Accordingly, you must have this letter with you at all times when driving a private hire vehicle, and
must produce it (along with your driver licence) to any authorised officer or police officer when
required to do so. You may choose to either print this letter on paper, or display it on a smartphone
or tablet as an image, in conjunction with your driver licence.

It is also essential that you understand the conditions attached to this letter. Those conditions are
standard conditions on your Driver Authority.

You should read them carefully, as a breach of the conditions may constitute an offence.

CONDITIONS

This driver authority is subject to prescribed conditions in the Passenger Transport Regulation 2007
including the following:

1. You must, within 48 hours, provide Roads and Maritime of full details in writing of:
(a) The expiry, cancellation, suspension or disqualification of your driver licence
(clause 31(5) of the Regulation)
(b) Any charges or convictions against you (whether or not in Australia) including
(i) any criminal offences
(ii) any alleged offences (other than parking offences) charged by a police officer
(iii) any alleged offences or penalty notices issued to you (other than a parking offence)
involving the driving of a motor vehicle
(clause 44 of the Regulation)

2. You must inform Roads and Maritime in writing of any change in your health that may affect your
ability to drive a public passenger vehicle within 48 hours of you becoming aware of the change.
(clause 47(3) of the Regulation)

3. You must hand over your driver licence for inspection at the request of any authorised officer.
(clause 45 of the Regulation)

4. If you change your name or address, you must notify Roads and Maritime (at the address at the foot
of this page) in writing of your new name or address within 7 days of the change.
(clause 235 of the Regulation).

This driver authority is also subject to ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS. These conditions are imposed under
section 40D of the Passenger Transport Act 1990. A breach of any of the following conditions carries a
potential maximum court imposed penalty of $11,000

5. You must comply with all relevant provisions of:

(a) the Passenger Transport Act 1990 and its regulations, and
(b) the road transport legislation.

6. You must ensure that any vehicle in which you carry out a public passenger service is correctly
registered as a public passenger vehicle and the correct taxes paid and insurances obtained.

7. You consent to a notation being placed on your drivers licence record which will reflect the fact that
you are an authorised Private Hire Vehicle driver. In accepting this driver authority, you consent to all
necessary roadside checks on that basis

8. You must hand over a copy of this Driver Authority to an authorised officer or police officer upon
request (whether on paper or by handing the officer a smartphone upon which this document is
displayed).
