In developing its system, FVF renovate its information systems from manual systems into
a company-wide database and applications that are connected with this database. I think the
company chose this option because the company has expand rapidly over the period and series
of complex transactions are being done. Since the company uses separate applications in its
functional areas manufacturing, sales, orders, accounting, and purchasing, the company has a
need to integrate this appliocations in one information system for easier use and update of the
current transactions FVF has entered into. I think that ERP is very much needed by this company
for a real time mode and for the company to easily meets its needs in its operations,

b) One option available to FVF was an enterprise-wide system. What features does an
enterprise-wide system, such as SAP, provide? What is the primary advantage of an enterprise
wide system?

An enterprise-wide system such as SAP is capable of integrating multiple business

applications, with each application representing a specific business area.These applications
update and process transactions in real time mode and has the ability to be configured to meets
the needs of the business. It is also user-friendly and it monitors activities of the business. It also
provides highly tansparent and flexible solution and the application can be integrate easily to any
kind of system.

c) FVF will be hiring two systems analysts next month. Your task is to develop a job
advertisement for these positions. Locate several websites or newspapers that have job
advertisements for systems analysts. What skills are required?

Systems Analyst

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

0 BS/BA degree in a related technical discipline with 2-5 years of hands on experience.
1 Experience in two or more of the following: VBA, SSIS, SSRS, SQL Server, Oracle,
SharePoint, or SAS.
2 2+ years information systems equivalent industry experience preferred.
3 Must have well developed organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to
manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
4 Demonstrated strong analytical, conceptual and quantitative problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

Transaction Processing System

A small business processes transactions that result from day-to-day business operations, such as
the creation of paychecks and purchase orders, using a transaction processing system, or TPS.
The TPS, unlike a batch system, requires that users interact with the system in real time to direct
the system to collect, store, retrieve and modify data. A user enters transaction data by means of
a terminal, and the system immediately stores the data in a database and produces any required
output. For example, a small-business owner may direct a bank system to debit a savings
account for $500 and credit the company's checking account for $500. Because of constant
system updates, a user can access current TPS data, such as an account balance, at any point.

A business will have several TPS; for example:

Billing systems to send invoices to customers .

Systems to calculate the weekly and monthly payroll and tax payments
Production and purchasing systems to calculate raw material requirements

Decision Support System

A decision-support system, or DSS, allows small-business managers and owners to use

predefined or ad hoc reports to support operations planning and problem-resolution decisions.
With DSS, users find answers to specific questions as a means to evaluate the possible impact of
a decision before it is implemented. The answers to queries may take the form of a data
summary report, such as a product revenue by quarter sales report. To conduct an analysis,
business owners and managers use an interface -- a dashboard -- to select a particular graphic
representation of a key performance indicator that measures the progress toward meeting a
specific goal. For example, a manufacturing dashboard might display a graphic representing the
number of products manufactured on a particular line.

Enterprise Collaboration System

In recent times, there is more stress on team effort or collaboration across different functional
teams. A system which enables collaborative effort by improving communication and sharing of
data is referred to as an enterprise collaboration system. For example, the Marketing Dept may
collaborate with the sales Dept for a big business transaction.
