The ABA House of Delegates unanimously passed a policy resolution urging the US Congress and the Department of State to continue American commitment and support to end impunity for the atrocity crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. Specifically, this ABA policy position urged for the continuation and increased support of the US State Department’s Office of Global Criminal Justice and its Ambassador at-Large post. This office and ambassador position are critical to, among other related issues, US relations with the International Criminal Court, such as making cooperation and assistance with the Court as effective and efficient as possible. Two board members of the ABA's ICC Project Board of Advisors (chair and former ABA President Michael S. Greco and former US Ambassador at-Large for War Crimes Issues Stephen J. Rapp) along with former senior legal advisor of North Atlantic Treaty Organization Colonel James S. Durant III rose to speak in favor of the resolution.
