Structural Descriptions
Pump body and impellor
The design optimization of CFD technology achieves the best balance between overloading-proof hydraulic design and high flow capacity,
featuring a broad flow passage and improved flow-capacity of waste. The impeller has passed a strict dynamic balance test to minimize vibration
and maximize the service lives of bearings and mechanical seals.
Motor
The specially designed and manufactured submersible motor is of IP68 protection grade, the stator winding is of insulation grade H, and the
maximum working temperature of the insulation materials is 180C. The winding is internally installed with an overheating protection unit to protect
the motor via the electric cabinet.
Cooling of motor
The motor is cooled by the pumped medium via the radiator fins on the stator housing. The motor shall be immersed within the medium and the
minimum stop position of the pump shall be no lower than the level shown in the installation dimension diagram.
Mechanic seal
The Burgmann mechanical seals made of wear-resistant friction pair materials with a low friction coefficient are adopted, the rubber parts are
made of oil-resistant NBR, and the metal parts are made of stainless steel.

Oil chamber
Besides lubricating the mechanical seals, the oil within the oil chamber can also carry heat away from the bearings. In addition, the oil chamber
also serves another function, ensuring liquid permeation does not occur. The oil chamber is internally fitted with a water leakage probe. Upon
detection of the permeation of medium into the oil chamber, this water leakage probe sounds a warning and stops the pump via the electric cabinet
to alert the operation personnel to conducts checks and provide repairs.
The amount of oil is sufficient to allow oil to escape from the oil filling hole and to ensure a certain volume of air in the oil chamber so that the oil
chamber pressure does not rise significantly after the oil temperature rises, thereby avoiding excessive wear or leakage of the mechanical seal.
Bearing
Originally imported SKF bearings, the upper part of the bearing are deep groove ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings for radial force. The
lower part of the bearing is used to bear the radial force and the axial force. The pump of each model is different according to the radial force and
axial force. Some are designed as a double row angular contact ball bearing; some are a pair of angular contact ball bearing. All bearings have a
sufficient load margin, with a design life of 100,000 hours.
Sealing of cables and motor
The cables adopt a sewage-resistant heavy-duty rubber jacketed flexible cable, featuring excellent mechanical strength and oil dirt resistance.
The wire cross section and the current carrying capacity of the cables are selected based on the conditions of 40 environmental temperature and
long-time continuous working. Therefore, under the general working conditions, the cables feature sufficient margin of current carrying capacity
and longer life. The cable pressure caps compress tightly the cable seal rings to realize reliable sealing between cables and wiring chamber. The
cables are fixed against pullout. They are affixed with color and digital identifications to make identification and connection of cables easier. The
grounding marking and grounding fasteners are provided in the motor wiring chamber and the electric cabinet. The cables are strictly grounded
to ensure safety and reliability.
During assembly, strict sealing tests are performed for the O-rings, cable seals, and mechanical seals of every pump to ensure the reliable sealing
for the motor chambers, including the wiring chamber.
Protection device
The water pump is fitted with a motor winding overheating protection unit, motor chamber oil-water
probe, and oil chamber water leakage probe. To ensure the safe and reliable running of your pump and
prevent burnout of the motor, the use of our special electric cabinet for submersible sewage pump is
recommended. When the electric cabinet is provided by the user, ensure you contact our electric
cabinet professional team for the relevant electric technical issues, especially regarding the electric
technical issues of the protection devices.
Overheating protection unit
The thermosensitive unit is one electric device whose actions are controlled by temperature, and which
is embedded within the stator winding of the motor, In the event of abnormality, when the winding
temperature reaches the preset value of overheating protection unit, the overheating protection unit
turns on the Overheating indicator lamp via electric cabinet and automatically stops the motor, it
reminds the operation personnel to check and find the cause of the motors overheating.
When the winding temperature drops, the motor will return to its operational state.
Oil-water probe
The oil-water probe is designed for water or oil leakage detection. The water leakage probe in the oil chamber is called an oil
probe for short. If the impellor side mechanical seal is damaged and the water leaking into the oil chamber reaches a certain
level, two electrodes of the water leakage probe are connected to send a warning signal (turn-on of indicator lamp) via electric
cabinet, in order to remind the operation personnel to check the mechanical seal or replacing the oil in the oil chamber.
The water leakage probe in the motor chamber is called a water probe for short. Its installed on the downside of the motor
chamber and in the cavity near the bearing. This cavity has a hole interconnected with the bearing chamber. If the motor side
mechanical seal fails, the oil in the oil chamber flows into this cavity via bearing chamber or the water breached into the motor
flows into this cavity so that two electrodes of the water leakage probe are connected to send a warning signal (turn-on of
indicator lamp) via electric cabinet, this automatically stops the running of the pump, and reminds the operation personnel to
check and repair the pump.
Lifting device
The lifting bracket of the pump is made of stainless steel 304 and is designed with a large space to ease the hookup of the
hook, featuring convenient lifting and excellent durability.

Installation Modes
WQ Series submersible sewage pump has auto-coupling installation (Z), fixed base installation (P), fixed base installation (F), mobile hose
installation (R) and mobile pipe installation(Y). All above-mentioned installation modes are simple. The installation modes are described
respectively as below.
Automatic Coupling Mounting (Z) The automatic coupling installation mode utilizes the coupling device to
connect pump and pipeline. With the use of coupling device, the pump
and the water discharge pipeline are independent from each other and
connection by conventional fasteners becomes unnecessary. Therefore,

pipeline. The coupling device is actually really simple and is composed of
a water discharge pipe base, guide rod, guide rod bracket, and coupling
frame. The guide rod is only functional as a guide, not to be subjected to
force, and thus can adopt a common running water tube or steel tube. The
user can prepare it and easily cut to the required length based on the
depth of sewage sump. During the installation, install the water discharge

The motor is 380V in rated voltage and 50Hz in rated frequency.
Wiring mode
Wiring mode of motor winding wires:
The delta wiring mode () is adopted for 55kW pumps. The wires are already connected as per this wiring mode in the wiring chamber of pump
at the time of delivery. The direct start, auto-coupling voltage-reduction start, or externally connected electric soft starter can be adopted based on
the site condition.
For 75kW pumps, there are two wiring modes for the winding lead wires: Direct connection between 6 power cores in two main cables and 6 lead
wires of motor winding, which is applicable for star-delta (Y-) start or internally connected electric soft starter, and connection of winding as per
delta wiring method () within wiring chamber, which is applicable for auto-coupling voltage-reduction start or externally connected electric soft
starter.
Rotation direction
Observed from the suction port of pump, the impeller is rotating counter-clockwise.

The solid parts of curve in the above diagram denote the recommended operation range of the pump. The shaft power will rise no further after
reaching a certain value. Generally, the overloading-proof pump has no overload danger, even the occasionally minor overload, is limited. Therefore,
the motor is safe under all flow conditions of the pump. However, its best to use the pump within the recommended scope, as the pump can realize
highest efficiency and sustainability within the recommended scope. However, when the flow is less than the left boundary, the pump efficiency will
be really low causing high radial force and a broken key or shaft. When the flow is higher than the right boundary, the pump will create vibration and
noise problems.
Please refer to Performance Specification of WQ Series Submersible Sewage Pump for the maximum sizes of solid contents. For the
WQ2368-4149 pump shown in the figure, the diameter of solid contents shall not exceed 100mm.
The pump weight excludes accessories (such as coupling device, suction elbow, base, elbow connector, and hose elbow connector) required for
diversified installation modes.

Description of installation dimension diagram
1. All guide rod brackets can be fixed by M16150 type I steel expansion bolts. The expansion bolts are easily available and can be
prepared by clients or procured from our company.
Function of rubber block on guide rod bracket: Tighten the adjustment screw on the rubber block to expand the rubber block tightly in the
bore of guide rod and stabilize the guide rod.
2. Calculate the length of the guide rod as per the sump depth indicated on the diagram. Refer to attached Table 1 for the related
information of guide rod.
3. For the coupling installation of pump without flared water inlet pipe, fabricate the bottom of the sump to a flat plane so that the height of
the water discharge pipe seat can guarantee enough height between the suction port of pump and the sump bottom to provide good
,
suction conditions for the pump. Therefore, it s unnecessary to fabricate a boss for the water discharge pipe seat, which can relieve
construction troubles.
For the coupling installation of pump with flared water inlet pipe, to guarantee enough height between flared pipe and sump bottom,
fabricate a boss of a certain height for the water discharge pipe seat. The Installation Dimensional Table gives the minimum height of the
boss.

4. denotes the minimum liquid level required for the running of pump. The water level shall be higher than the minimum level during running
of pump. If possible, completely immerse the pump, in order to provide more sufficient cooling for the motor. The minimum water level can be
controlled by the float switch. Our special electric cabinets of submersible sewage pumps are of level control type and are fitted with float
switches.
5. For pumps of mobile installation mode, the hose elbow connectors or the elbow connectors are provided by our company. For mobile hose
installation mode, please refer to the attached Table 2 for the inside diameters of hoses applicable for diversified diameters of pumps.

submersible sewage pump is compatible with the protection devices of the pump. Its fitted with a certain number of float switches depending
on the users chosen control mode and incorporates the protective functions against main circuit short-circuit, overload, and phase loss. The
electric cabinet for >15kW pumps is also fitted with auto-coupling voltage-reduction start or electric soft start function. During the normal
functioning of the electric cabinet with main/standby pump control mode, the alternating modes for main/standby pumps include manual
alternating, periodic alternating (for continuous running applications), and automatic alternating (for intermittent running applications. In event
of malfunction, the electric cabinet with main/standby pump control mode embodies the function of automatically stopping the malfunctioned
pump and automatically starting the standby pump (automatic start of standby pump). If the user adopts our electric cabinet but disconnects
the pump protection devices, or the electric cabinet prepared by the user is incompatible with the pump protection devices, or the protection
function against main circuit short-circuit, overload, and phase loss is not set, it will certainly lead to no alarm or the pump stopping in the
event of malfunction, which will finally lead to failure of users to check and repair, causing motor burnout. Therefore, upon procurement of
submersible sewage pump, please procure the special electric cabinet of submersible sewage pump at the same time whenever possible.
The above section describes the special electric cabinet of submersible sewage pump. Please refer to the brochure or manual of our electric
cabinet for details.

The minimum liquid level is indicated on the brochure and manual of submersible sewage pump. denotes the level at which the stator of
the motor is half immersed by the medium.
The level float switch functions only when the electric cabinet is placed in automatic mode.
Wiring and setup of level float switch: The cable of level float switch contains three cores, namely black, brown, and blue. When the floater
raises, the internal contact of the floater connects the black and brown cores and disconnects the black and blue cores. When the floater
drops, the internal contact of the floater connects the black and blue cores and disconnects the black and brown cores. When the floater is
in the middle position, the internal switch is in an original holding position. The internal switch acts only when the floater is at the raised or
dropped position as shown in the figure. For water discharge applications, connect the black and brown cores into the electric cabinet and
wrap and insulate the blue core. For water supply applications, connect the black and blue cores into the electric cabinet and wrap and
insulate the brown core. If one float switch is used to control the start and stop levels of the pump, adjust the location of the counterweight on
the cable to determine the difference of liquid level for the start and stop of the water pump. Therefore, based on the working principle, one
float switch can achieve the control on the start and stop of pump for one group of upper and lower liquid levels. However, for a large
difference between liquid levels, the length of floater swing arm is increased accordingly and thus the control accuracy of the liquid level is
impaired due to the dead weight of the cable segment between the counterweight and floater. Therefore, our special electric cabinet for
submersible sewage pump is configured in such manner that two float switches are used to control the start and stop levels respectively for
main pump or primary pump and one float switch is used to control both start and stop levels of the pump for the small-diameter pump or
standby pump started at ultimate upper level. The user may order the float switches from us for additional float switches or the electric cabinet
other than our special electric cabinet for submersible sewage pump.

This diagram is only for schematic purposes and doesnt denote design specification. The issues regarding the design and safety of the pump
house shall be handled as per relevant standards and specifications.
When the setup of wire conduits (to be prepared by the user) is required, determine the inside diameter of wire conduits as per the outside
diameter of cables. If our special cables for submersible sewage pump are used between the terminal box and electric cabinet, please
contact the Technical Department of Shanghai Kaiquan (Hefei) Plant to determine the outside diameters of cables.

Ordering Description
To make your procured pump more suitable, customers are welcome to consult technical issues with our Technical Department.
Please indicate the series number, impellor number, flow passage part material, installation mode, and discharge port diameter at the time
of ordering. If the star-delta (Y-) start or internally connected electric soft starter is adopted, please add -K to the end of pump model
and indicate with K motor on the pump order. If the auto-coupling voltage-reduction start or externally connected electric soft starter is
adopted and the pump is fitted with motor of internal delta wiring mode (namely the motor winding is connected as per delta wiring mode
in the wiring chamber), do not add K to the pump model.
The installation mode of water pump shall follow the installation dimension diagram on the brochure.
Thanks to the excellent design of the guide rod bracket in the coupling device, it s only necessary to use a common running water tube or
steel tube as the guide rod. The specification and length calculation method for the running water tube or steel tube used as guide rod is
provided on the brochure. The user only needs to procure a running water tube or steel tube and cut it to the required length. Therefore, no
guide rod is included in the coupling device.
No motor cooling system is fitted for this series pump. Therefore, the cooling sleeve can t be additionally installed.
The standard configuration includes 10m motor cables. The user shall specify at the time of ordering if the cables of other length are
required.
The supply part package is supplied as per the user s selected installation mode.
Optional parts and spare parts are ordered separately by the user.
For mobile pipe installation mode (Y), an elbow connector is supplied for every pump package. For mobile hose installation mode (R), a
hose elbow connector is supplied for every pump package. If more than one elbow connector or hose elbow connector is required for the
pump of mobile installation mode, please order separately.
The elbow connectors are in bore diameter of 50, 65, 80, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, and 600.
The hose elbow connectors are in bore diameter of 50 (For 64 hose), 5065 (For 76 hose), 65 (For 76 hose), 80 (For 89 hose), 100 (For
102 hose), and 150 (For 152 hose).
The optional taper pipes are in two-sided bore diameters of 5065, 5080, 6580, 80100, 100150, 150200, 200250, 250300,
300350, 350400, 400450, 450500, and 500600. The taper pipe installed on the discharge pipeline shall be only used for expanded
application, instead of contracted application.
While connecting the taper pipe and elbow connector on the discharge pipeline, the bore diameter of the elbow connector shall be
consistent with that of the large end of the taper pipe, namely the principle of expanding before turning shall be followed, in which case
the pipe loss is less than that of the turning before expanding .
For the pump of coupling installation mode, if the bore diameter of the discharge pipeline is larger than that of the pump, a taper pipe can
be additionally installed on the water discharge pipe seat and the small end bore diameter of the taper pipe shall be consistent with the
bore diameter of the water discharge pipe seat (namely the bore diameter of pump).

connectors; hose elbow connectors, and taper pipes.
