As you are assigned the role of Moderator, you will have access to some new tools and to a new
federation.
2. Your job
The first thing you should do, is to read the Moderator Guidelines (this document). You'll find it in the
Moderator-board of the STAFF-federation. You can check the content at the end of this document to
find specific items you are looking for.
You are the representative of Maxithlon on the federations. You should make sure that your national
federation is a nice place to be for everyone. You should keep it clean and peaceful.
Normally, you don't need to ban users to achieve this, but sometimes you will have to. If you do so,
try to explain to the user what he did wrong, so he (hopefully) won't do it again.
Another challenge for the Moderator, is to try to keep his national federation active (and alive). To
achieve this, you can open some interesting topics from time to time. You'll get some examples later
in this document.
Another part of your job is to see if the information on your national federations is correct. For
example, if a newbie asks a question, verify the given answers, and if necessary, correct them.
Finally, every member of staff is invited to get involved in discussing changes in the game and the
game rules. To achieve this, you can participate in the Ideas board in the Staff federation or even
open topics from time to time. You'll get some more information about this later in this document.
- General
Every federation can have up to five boards, so if you want one or two extra boards, you can contact
one of the Maxi-Moderators. They will do it for you.
- Questions/Help
- Off-topic
- Suggestions/Ideas
- National League
- Championships (Regional, National, ...)
4. General policies
4.1 Signatures
Every user can sign his forum post with his name. This is not considered as a signature.
This is a Maxitrainer feature only, and thus, a non-Maxitrainer is not allowed to create one on his
own.
5. Staff federation
Since you're now member of the staff, you are granted access to one official federation: STAFF.
You now have access to at least three boards in this federation: International, Moderator's board and
Idea's Board.
The only language allowed is English. That's actually the language for all communication between
staff members.
5.1 International
This board is used for STAFF-related issues. Every discussion or any question that can't or shouldn't
be discussed openly, belongs to this board. Every crewmember (Administrator, Operator, Moderator
& Translator) has access to this board. Don't use this board for Moderator-issues.
6. Your challenge
As said in the introduction of this document, your biggest challenge will be to keep your national
federation active. You can achieve this by opening some interesting threads now and then. In the
next chapter, you'll find some examples of those threads.
[Version] X.XX
Every time a new Maxithlon-version is published, you can open a topic about it to talk about the
novelties. Remember that some features are Staff-only: you are not allowed to post them on your
national federation.
Possible options:
- Promotion in NL
- Individual Championships
- Bye new athletes
- Arena construction
- Better economy
- ...
[Youngsters] Season XX
During the change of season, you can open a topic where, weekly, users can post their new young
athletes.
I want to remember to all that on [date], there will be the Regional Individual Championship.
Every athlete, born in our country, can be enrolled in maximum 2 events in the
Championship that takes place in the same region as the club of the user.
The athlete who wins the race, is the regional champion of the discipline for this season.
1. The first n athletes for every discipline of every region (on the Regional Individual
Championship) qualify for the National Individual Championship (where n is different for
every region). To see n for your region, see the page of your country.
2. The first three athletes of the season ranking for every discipline also qualify for the
National Individual Championship. This is the only way to qualify your foreign athletes to the
National Individual Championship of their country.
- Continent: none
- Nation: none
- Region: none
- Season: [the number of the season]
- Nationality: the nationality of your athlete
- Category: none *Discipline: the discipline of your athlete
- Sex: the sex of your athlete
If your athlete is in the top 3 on [date] (Friday before the National Individual Championship),
he/she will get an invitation. Commented [JDM1]: Or 4th if at least 1 player above
him/her is retired
[Season XX] Regional Club Championship
A week before the Regional Club Championship starts, you can open a topic with a text like
this one:
I want to remember to all that on [date], there will be the Regional Club Championship
Every club can participate in the Regional Club Championship of its region.
Every club can enroll only one athlete for every discipline.
The final score will be the sum of the races point of the athlete of the club.
The club that will have the most points, will be the Regional Club Champion of this season.
1. The first n clubs in every region (n changes in every region) qualify for the National Club
Championship. To see n for your region, see the page of your country.
2. The 20 clubs with the highest score in the Club Regional Championships will automatically
receive an invitation to the National competition. If some of these clubs had already received
the invitation to the National Championship, there will not be an additional redrawing.
Invitations will be sent the Friday following the Regional Championships.
How to qualify: The first 30 athletes of the junior (age 14-17) world ranking in each discipline
will be invited.
- Continent: none
- Nation: none
- Region: none
- Season: [the number of the season]
- Nationality: the nationality of your athlete
- Category: junior
- Discipline: the discipline of your athlete
- Sex: the sex of your athlete
If your athlete is in the top 30 on [date] (Friday before the Junior World Championship),
he/she will get an invitation.
6.2 Sticky
6.2.1 Introduction
Another useful tool on the federations, is the 'sticky' tool.
Every board (so, not only one in the whole federation, but really one in every board) is required to
contain a closed sticky with the forum rules (see later in this document):
Just like in other forums, we need a set of rules to keep the forum pleasant and within reach
of all users. We know that a set of rules will never be able to cover all the possible situations
that can happen in the life of a community, so we trust on your common sense for all the
situations still not regulated. We state precisely that the moderators have the decisional
power in all the situations still not regulated according to the game spirit and the spirit of
these set of rules.
Here is the set of rules that we have to respect inside the Federations.
Please, use the right board of the Federation when you want to open a topic:
- General: In this section you can have discussions related to the game and, in general,
all arguments not present in the other sections
- Questions/Help: Here you can open topics in case of questions. This section is
especially useful for new users (but for the veterans too...) to ask questions about
the game
- Off-topic: Here you can discuss all the non-forbidden topics that have nothing to do
with Maxithlon
The languages you can use in this Federation are [local languages] and English.
If you want to contact the staff to report a bug, you have to use the contact module or
you can write to world@maxithlon.com. In the mail you have to report the page and an Commented [JDM4]: Is this mailadress visible on the site

- to give notice of buying and selling athletes: you have the Announcement-section to
do this, selecting carefully the right section for your announce.
- to advertise or to request a meeting: you have the Announcement-section to do this,
selecting carefully the right section for your announce. Commented [JDM5]: I realy want to discuss this. I agree
- to SPAM (i.e. to post multiple times the same message or topic, to bump, or to we should have rules; but we have to aknowledge that the

- to make posts to reach a personal (economic) profit (referral links, selling things in placed? Now people should get an 'unofficial fed' what

changed.
- to ask for assistance regarding (or talk about) cracks or protection code of any game
or program.
- to promote or to talk about illegal activities or the use of illegal materials (i.e. drugs).
- to open discussions about politics or religions.
- to open discussions or to write messages with pornographic contents.
- open only one thread advertising a federation only once per season. This can be
done in the national federation and in other federations to which the private one has
specific relevance, and it will not be consider SPAM. The title of the thread must
have a tag [FED] so everyone can easily find it, and it's not allowed to discuss in it. Commented [JDM6]: Can't it be good that other users
After the first post the thread will be closed as soon as a moderator reads it: any post can add their experience from a certain federation? If many
like it, people will join. I think it would be usefull.
after the first will be deleted.
PUNISHMENTS
Those who don't respect this set of rules, risk a temporary removal from the Federations
(temporary ban), a definitive removal from the Federations (definitive ban) or a removal
from the game. The controversial messages can be deleted and the topics can be closed
or deleted by the staff.

Contact a Maxi-Moderator if it's the third infraction of a user. They will decide whether the user
deserves an extra fine or not. Commented [JDM7]: What about 'getting a parol' after a
certain amount of time? for example: a punishment from
2011, does it realy have to count in 2017?
* = Ban the user for 3 days and contact a Maxi-Moderator as soon as possible. They will take the
(final) decision.
If you're not sure about the punishment, you can ask the Maxi-Moderators or you can ask it on the
Moderator-board.
If you know what the punishment has to be, send a personal message to the user in which you
explain what he did wrong and what the punishment is. Stress the fact that, in case of a next similar
infraction, the punishment will be heavier, as you can see in the pricelist.
In both cases (warning and ban), make a note in the user history (in English!) in the format:
"Rule - Punishment"
If you go to your federation, and click on 'MODERATION', you will see the image below.
Here you can add a note to the user who made an infraction.
Select the correct user and click on 'Display notes'. You'll see a screen where you can read the notes
and add notes for this user.
When you click on 'MODERATION', you'll see a screen where you can ban a user (if necessary). You
just have to select the right user and fill in the number of days.
If you did it correctly, the name of the banned user will appear in the list.
