Abstract

The purpose of this study is to uncover the extent to which both Quranic studies of fourth
year students and in-service teacher students (ISTS) at Jazan Teachers' College know about Ihsan
(the highest level in Islam) aspects found in the Holy Quran (H.Q). To achieve this objective,
sixty-five aspects of Ihsan were extracted from the (H.Q) and classified into four categories: 1)
aspects of heart faith (18 items), 2) aspects of verbal behavior (11 items), 3) aspects of
worshipping behavior (18 items), and 4) aspects of social behavior (18 items). These items
comprised the questionnaire which was tested for the purpose of this study. Seventy fourth year
college students and thirty-six (ISTS) of the Quranic studies participated in the study. Both
groups responded to the items of the instrument. Results showed variations in Ss' knowledge of
the Ihsan aspects as follows a) Ss know six aspects at the "very high" order of the scale, b) eight
aspects at the "high" order, c) Fifty aspects at the "medium" order, d) and one aspect only at the
"low" level of the scale. There were significant differences between the two groups at (= 0.001)
with respect to Ss' knowledge of Ihsan aspects in the (H.Q). (ISTS) know about Ihsan aspects
more than students of the fourth college year. There was a positive correlation between Ss'
knowledge of Ihsan aspects in the (H.Q) and their overall grade point average.
