Guidelines for the assignment
1. The assignment consists of 5 Quant questions from the e-GMAT question bank
2. You are required to prepare solutions for these questions
3. The solutions can be in any of the two formats: Word-doc or Power Point Presentation
4. Irrespective of the format you choose, you will be primarily judged on the following criteria:
a) How methodical you are in your explanation for example, we would be interested to see whether the
approach you have used in the solution to a particular question can be applied to other questions of the
same topic.
b) How lucid you are in your explanation does the explanation flow well from one point to another? Is it
so mathematical that it is suited only to a person of high Math ability or is it logical enough that it can be
easily understood by a person of average Math ability as well.
c) How structured your solutions are are the solutions formatted in a fashion that they make for a good
and easy reading experience?

Please note that e-GMAT values individuality and hence the above guidelines should not discourage you from
displaying your own style. The criteria are listed only to guide you in the right direction.

Question 3
Directions This data sufficiency problem consists of a question and two statements, labeled (1) and (2), in which certain data are given.
You have to decide whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question. Using the data given in the
statements, plus your knowledge of mathematics and everyday facts (such as the number of days in July or the meaning of the word
counterclockwise), you must indicate whether:
A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked.
C. BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to
answer the question asked.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data specific to the problem are
needed.

In the rectangular solid above, if each dimension of the solid is an integer, what is the volume of
the solid?
(1) Areas of two faces of the rectangular solid are 4 sq. units and 20 sq. units respectively.
(2) Areas of two faces of the rectangular solid are 4 sq. units and 5 sq. units respectively.
