Chapter 6 OPVLs

1)Francis Parkman Analyzes the Conflict

Document written by Francis Parkman a Boston historian in 1884 when the battle in North
America had ended. It was meant to be public for anyone interested in the struggles of Britain
and Americans. It basically talks about the aftermath relationship between British and
Americans, it describes jealousy that had cost them both disputes. It is not an eyewitness and
therefore it could include mistruths because people always prefer one side. The possibility of
mistruths is given to the fact that the french press is mentioned because that could affect his
views on one army.
2)Andrew Burnaby Scoffs at Colonial Unity
Document of observations was written by clergyman of Church of England who traveled the
colonies during the french and indian war, Andrew Burnaby in 1760. Since they were
observations they might at first be for him but to eventually share with the rest of the world. The
observations basically talk about how America will never unite to create a big empire. It states
reasons like different languages, religions, races, and subjection. This person is an eyewitness
and is showing his thoughts on the subject. The possibility of mistruths is very small because it
is written observations and when you write what you observe you commonly write the truth.
