This article discusses Frithjof Schuon and his relationship to Neoplatonic philosophy. Schuon was a 20th century spiritual master known for his writings on perennial philosophy and comparative religion. The article argues that while Schuon's metaphysics drew on concepts from Advaita Vedanta, Christianity, and Islam, it cannot be traced directly back to ancient Greek sources. However, Schuon's terminology does reveal indirect influences from Plato, Aristotle, and Neoplatonists. Specifically, Schuon distinguished metaphysics as proceeding from intellect rather than human reason alone, in line with Aristotelian and Neoplatonic thought.
