5 Mandatory Tips for AFCAT Military Aptitude Test

Verbal ability and general awareness are much easy sections to score. Reading news
dailies, noticing important pieces of information, searching informative websites are some of the
methods to improve the vocabulary and verbal ability.
Candidates can score very well in Verbal Ability in English. Mostly questions will be
covered from Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms
and Testing of Vocabulary.
Reasoning section should also be cracked through constant practice of model questions
with effective time management since it consumes lot of time in exam. Solve previous year
question papers as much as possible to increase your practice skills.
Spatial ability test measures your ability to manipulate shapes in two dimensions or to
visualize three-dimensional objects presented as two-dimensional pictures. Spatial ability tests
often involve the visual assembly and the disassembly of objects that have been rotated or
which are viewed from different angles or objects that have different markings on their surfaces.
Generally this topic consists of question based on rotated blocks, hidden figures, dot situation,
completion of figure matrix etc. To become the master of this topic you have to:
1. Practice with target to improve your skills
2. Think logically: say if you cant arrive at answer then you can use process of elimination.
Check the option which fits better as a solution. Spatial aptitude tests do not involve analysis
and reasoning, they are purely a test of your ability to mentally manipulate shapes and figures.
Prepare from SSBCracK Exams, AFCAT course of SSBCracK Exams covers all the
appeared exam questions along with the expected questions, by practicing them you can surely
increase your skills.
Evaluate Your AFCAT 2 2017 Exam Preparation in 5 Steps

1) Identify which section you would like to evaluate first

I would normally evaluate my performance mentally, but you can put pen to paper. It
builds up the learning process and you will remember lessons learnt better. Give an
order to sections and evaluate them in series as examiner and while you do that ask
yourself how you should have performed in this problem/section to get more marks.

2) Review the amount of effort you put in for a subject/syllabus

This is important as passing can only be achieved through hard work, although not all
papers require the same amount of effort. Then review your entire study period and
determine how much time you put into the papers and compare this to how much time
you needed to put in.

3) Evaluate the questions that appeared in the previous exams

Depending on the level of effort you have put into preparing for the exam, the questions
that appear in the paper should be easy or tough. If you did enough practice to answer
the questions, evaluate how much of the paper you attempted and how much time it
took to complete the paper. This step is requires you to be really honest with yourself.

4) Compare your study effort to how difficult the questions were

More often than not, a question is difficult to answer because we did not put enough
effort in studying for the exam. Review faults and make change for the upcoming
AFCAT exam.
5) Join a Mock Test Series

Best way to prepare is as per syllabus, first prepare a topic using study material and
then take practice test on it and when you think that you have covered your syllabus
take mock test on complete syllabus here two things are first you will get report and
statistics on your self preparation second other students too have taken those test so
you can compare your performance with them.

Tips and Tricks For AFCAT Exam Venn

Diagram Type Questions
Venn Diagram based questions are quite common in AFCAT exam so to help AFCAT
exam aspirants we are sharing, Tips and Tricks For AFCAT Exam Venn Diagram Type
Questions.
Tips and Tricks For AFCAT Exam Venn Diagram Type
Questions

What is Venn diagram

This concept of Venn-Diagram was given by John Venn. In this diagrams (mostly
circle/ellipse) are used to for relationships between two or more entities.

The main work of these questions is to check or test the ability of candidate by giving
relations between some items or a group in the form of diagram.

Tips for solving

If in the question asked all the entities are not related they will be shown using different
circles.

If the entity A is related to entity B and entity B to entity C as shown in figure .

`

If A and B are depended to C but not to each other then Venn diagram is shown as
figure.

If A and B are depended to C and also A and B are related, then Venn diagram is shown
as figure.

If A and B are completely different from each other but are connected to some point but
not completely to the C then its relation is shown in figure.
If all three entity A B and C are interconnected to each other but not completely then
Venn diagram will be:

If A and B are completely interconnected to each other and C is totally different from two,
then diagram is

Top Ten Important Formulas and Problems For AFCAT Exam
Preparation

We recommend you to go through the below given formulas that we have prepared.
Remember them with your heart and mind, it is very necessary that you score good
marks in numerical ability section of AFCAT.

1) Simplification:

Rule of BODMAS: This BODMAS rule depicts the correct sequence in which the
operations are to be executed, so as to find out the value of given expression. Full form of
BODMAS is B Bracket, O of, D Division, M Multiplication, A Addition and S
Subtraction. Thus, while solving or simplifying a problem, first remove all brackets, strictly in the
order (), {} and ||. After removing the brackets, we will use the following operations strictly in the
following order: (i) of (ii) Division (iii) Multiplication (iv) Addition (v) Subtraction.
2) Average:

Average = (Sum of observations/Number of observations)

Suppose a train covers a certain distance at x kmph and an equal distance at y kmph.
Then, the average speed of train during the whole journey is kmph (2xy/x+y)kmph.
3) Percentage:

By a certain percent, we mean that many hundredths. Thus, x percent means x

hundredths, written as x%. To express x% as a fraction: We have, x% = x/100
To express a/b as a percent: We have, a/b = (a/b x 100)%
Percentage Increase/Decrease: If the price of a commodity increases by R%, then the
reduction in consumption so as not to increase the expenditure is: [(R/(100+R)) x 100]%. If the
price of a commodity decreases by R%, then the increase in consumption so as not to decrease
the expenditure is: [(R/(100-R)) x 100]%.
Result on Population: Let the population of a town be P now and suppose it increases at
the rate of R% per annum, then: population after n years = P (1+(R/100))n Population n years
ago= P/ (1+(R/100))n
Result on Depreciation: Let the present value of a machine be P. Suppose it depreciates
at the rate of R% per annum. Then: Value of the machine after n years = P (1-(R/100)n , Value of
the machine n years ago = P/ (1-(R/100)n, If A is R% more than B, then B is less than A by [(R/
(100+R)) x 100] %, If A is R% less than B, then B is more than A by [(R/(100-R)) x 100] %
4) Ratio:

Rule: The multiplication or division of each term of a ratio by the same non-zero number
does not affect the ratio. Eg. 4 : 5 = 8 : 10 = 12 : 15. Also, 4 : 6 = 2 : 3.
5) Proportion:

The equality of two ratios is called proportion. If a : b = c : d, we write a : b :: c : d and we

say that a, b, c, d are in proportion. Here a and d are called extremes, while b and c are called
mean terms. Product of means = Product of extremes. Thus, a : b :: c : d (b x c) = (a x d).
6) Simple Interest:

Principal: The money borrowed or lent out for a certain period is called the principal or
the sum.
Interest: Extra money paid for using others money is called interest.
Simple Interest (S.I.): If the interest on a sum borrowed for certain period is reckoned
uniformly, then it is called simple interest. Let Principal = P, Rate = R% per annum (p.a.) and
Time = T years. Then Simple Interest = (P x R x T)/100
7) Profit and Loss:

Cost Price: The price, at which an article is purchased, is called its cost price,
abbreviated as C.P.
Selling Price: The price, at which an article is sold, is called its selling prices, abbreviated
as S.P.
Profit or Gain: If S.P. is greater than C.P., the seller is said to have a profit or gain.
Loss: If S.P. is less than C.P., the seller is said to have incurred a loss.
Gain = (S.P.) (C.P.)
Loss = (C.P.) (S.P.)
8) Decimal Fraction:

A decimal fraction is a fraction in which denominator is an integer power of ten. (The

term decimals are commonly used to refer decimal fractions). Generally, a decimal fraction is
expressed using decimal notation and its denominator is not mentioned explicitly
Examples: 1/10 = .1 , 1/100 = .01

Conversion of a Decimal into Common Fraction: Put 1 in the denominator under the
decimal point and annex with it as many zeros as is the number of digits after the decimal point.
Now, remove the decimal point and reduce the fraction to its lowest terms.
9) Compound interest formula

The formula for annual compound interest is A = P (1 + r/n) ^ nt:

Where:

A = the future value of the investment/loan, including interest

P = the principal investment amount (the initial deposit or loan amount)
r = the annual interest rate (decimal)
n = the number of times that interest is compounded per year
t = the number of years the money is invested or borrowed for

10) Arithmetic Series formula

In an Arithmetic Sequence the difference between one term and the next is a
constant.

say: {a, a+d, a+2d, a+3d, }

We can write an Arithmetic Sequence as a rule:

xn = a + d(n-1)

(We use n-1 because d is not used in the 1st term).
