Course Description: The curriculum in this course consists of organization of government, the origin of the American
political system, the roles of citizens, and methods of actively participating in our political system. Reading skills will be
reinforced through multiple strategies within the content reading. Students will enhance their understanding of the
components of civic education as well as economics and geography of our country.

Supplies Needed: 2 spiral notebooks, folder (1), paper, pencils, pens, colored pencils, USB

Interactive Notebook: School Tardy Policy:


- Organizational tool designed to allow the student - First offense: verbal warning
multiple ways to process information of the course. - Second offense: call home
- Third offense: call home + detention
Hurricane Expectations:
1. Be Safe - Fourth offense: referral to discipline + call home
2. Be Respectful Makeup/Late Work:
3. Be Responsible - Will follow the district policy of number of days
4. Be Productive absent plus one.
- All work must be turned in on the due date.
Grading Scale: - No late work will be accepted after close of the
grading period (progress report and report card.
Test 35%
Discipline Spectrum:
Quiz 20 %
- Positive and negative behaviors will be recognized.
Classwork/Homework 10%
- Consequences will be determined by severity and
frequency of behaviors
Online Component 15% - Possible consequences: verbal warning, detention,
Referral, lunch remediation, phone call home
