This letter is a follow-up to a complaint received at this agency. The allegation that in
2014, the South San Antonio ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Chief
discovered a slush fund of $250,000, being held by the district with CTE monies. This
money is alleged to primarily be Perkins Grant funds. There was a trip for the high school
drill team to attend a competition in Florida, which is alleged to have been paid for by
district money. The allegation stated one participant had a mother working for the district
and had the money awarded outside of the budget guidelines. Lastly, in 2015-2016 a
coach was accused of misappropriating funds upwards of $135,000, he is said to have
admitted to approximately $35,000to get students items they needed for the football
season.
