Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Study
The rapid growth of technology has contributed a lot to the continued

progress of all classification of industry. However, some sectors today seem to be
left behind in adapting the use of different methods to have progress on their
part.
Nowadays, business people define the applications and problems to be

solved by the computer. But unfortunately this potential has not been fully
recognized or even adequately realized in some business. It is because users may
not fully understand the capabilities and limitations of modern computer
technology.
Computerization is a control system that manages processes in the

industrial workplace. It reduce human errors and processing time, thus it can
boost productivity and result into a high quality of product produce. This can
result in a system well integrated process that can perform much faster and more
accurate than the manual system.
The Barangay Profiling System is appropriate for the use of barangay

employees, who have access to profile information of barangay residents for the
direct reports and also departmental organizational staffs that have business
need for this information for their business unit. The Barangay Profiling System is
responsible for an effective and efficient approach for baranagay employees
and residents. It will help them accomplish task faster and also it eliminates the
need of a large staff. It will provide profile-based information on residents.
The interest of investigating the research topic is a good example of a

computer generated process, this can lessen the workload and provides
information needed by a resident. As a result, it will benefit not only the barangay
employee but the administration as a whole.

1.2 Statement of the Objectives
This study aimed to come up with a design and develop a Barangay

Profiling System of Barangay of Barangay NannarianPeablanca Cagayan.
Specifically, it aimed to answer the following:
1. How is the flow of the manual system?
2. How is the flow of the proposed system?
3. How secured are the data in the present manual system compared with the
proposed system?
4. How efficient the manual system with that of the proposed system?
General Statement of the Objectives
To feed the interest and specialization the researcher would like to

provide a Barangay Profiling System of barangay NannarianPeablanca
Cagayan, to lessen the work load, reduce human errors and processing times.
Specific Statement of the Objectives
1. To familiarize the staff with the organizational structure of the office,

including the duties and responsibilities of each personnel involved in
the system.
2. To avoid time and effort consuming, resulting into a number of work
accomplish.
3. To have an easy and faster preparation of the residents profile without
going to traditional way of searching an employee profile.
1.3 Scope and Delimitation
The computerized office automation system focused in the information of

residents of barangayNannarianPeaBlanca Cagayan.
This study aimed to determine with office automation which includes

pertinent information such as fullname, birth place. Date of birth.gender. Civil
status, religion, occupation, Restno., citizenship and etc. . This will make the work
of the secretary faster and easier and more comprehensive

1.4 Significance of the Study
The study will contribute to develop Barangay Profiling System at

Barangay NannarianPeablanca Cagayan, particularly in managing the
transaction of files of residents. Barangay Profiling System is an example of a new
technology which facilitates the searching of files of each residents.
The study will benefit the following:

The result of the study would provide more efficient and effective
processing of data, it would help them to lighten their work.
To the Residents:
Easily avail a copy of their profiles any time they want

Lessen the time and effort in filling forms
To the researcher
Enhance their potential in interacting with the officials

They were able to discover how competent in the fields of Information,
Technology and system analysis and design
1.5 Definition of Terms
These terminologies were gathered by the researcher for better and

clearer understanding about the study.
Client.Does not share any of its resources that request a servers content or
service function.
Computer.Machine capable of the following the instruction to alter data,

programmable electronic device that can perform calculations and processing
information.
Database. Is a container to store your tables in.
Information.Knowledge given or received of some fact or circumstances.
Program.An algorithm that a computer can both follow directly and follow the
translated version.
Record. It is the collection of related field with information that usually pertains to
only one subject.
Server. A computer on a local area that is running software for controlling access
to all or part of the network and its resources and shares its resources with client.
System. It is a group of interrelated components working together toward

common goal by accepting input and producing output in an organized
transformation process.
Software. It is a system utility or application program expressed in complete

readable language.
User.The person who uses a computer for word processing, communications, and
other application.
User-Friendly.A program easy to use even though an individual is not

knowledgeable about the system.
Visual Basic Net. Scripting language or programming language that is used to

design the system.
Computerized System To equip the user from electronic computer to facilitate

or automated procedures it is an easy tool to produce printed output or data.
Data Is a collection of an unauthorized facts of figures

Input Refers to information that given to a computer that acts on information

to a computer
Output Refers to information to the convention for transmitting data between a

computer and its peripherals
Process Refers to a series of instructions that computer executes in a

multitasking of operating system

Profile It is a type of feature story and usually focuses on a person.
Profiling It is a set of techniques for estimating the amount of time spent in

various portions of your program
Profiling System The profiling system is a unique personality assessment that

encompasses a system of profiling both people and processes.

CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
The chapter states the different literature and studies that were
conducted for the research to gain familiarity that are relevant and similar to the
present study.
Related Literature
Tinn (2001) stated that the computerization responded to the call the
office or any workplace to help their daily operation.
Janes (2001) stated that computers are extremely reliable device and
very powerful calculators with some great accessories applications like word
processing problem for all of business activities, regardless of size, computers
have three advantages over other type of office equipment that process
information because computer are faster, more accurate more economical.
Dioso (2001), stated that computer assist careful intelligent planning,
organizing, actuating and controlling .This maybe observed from the past that
they monitor production activities, solve scientific problem and help arrive in
tentative answer to a multitude of involve conditions.
Maloloset.al (2002) stated that the study of automation is important in the
sense time that minimizes the time and effort normally exerted in manual process.
Reyes (2005) said that task would be time consuming to accomplish
manually and more practical with the aid of computers field in cabinet.
According to Flores (2002), the automation is described simply as the
substitution of machine control of human.

RalphM. Stair (1999) emphasized that the development of technology
through the years have enabled us to do more with less effort. From the
orientation of the light bulb to the industrial revolution and beyond, we have
continuously tried to in a more efficient means of doing tasks.
Lewis (2002) stated that the reason for using computers vary from person
to person. Some of the computers in business are to perform accuracy, to be as
productivity, to decrease bottle necks or hassles to alter cash flows or to simples
elevate your status.
Sybex Inc (1999) stated that visual basic provide a graphical
environment in which the users usually designed the forms and control that
become the building block of tour application . Visual Basic support many useful
tools that will help the user more productivity.
GoldChageretal (2003) said that computer as a device for processing
information knew computer plays a significant role in their lives, but few are
aware of just how pervasive role is.
Mane (2000) mentioned that the creation of the computer made the
easier to accomplish that by doing it manually, to have the direct access on
straightforward answer just monitoring record where in the needs of computer
make possible for everyone to get data in a particular need. We can consider
that the computer is necessary and its productive tool for individual.
Gurewich (1999) stated that the database system makes the work faster
for every institution. For the mere fact that instead of doing things manually, with
the use of computer technology everything is done fasters.

Halili, M.C.N. (2004) that mans actions are t just involuntary movements
especially when time allow to plan his next action. These responses pass through
the process of reasoning and analysis.
Huntchinsonet.al (2001) stated that file is a collection of related records.
Examples are the entire students courses card for Anthropology 101 or the
transcript of all courses in the registers office.
Bryan (2006) emphasized the information system is a set of people,
procedures and resources that collects, transforms and disseminates information
in an organization to dos ends rely on many types of information system (IS).
They might include simple manual information system and informal system and
also computer based information system that uses hardware, software
telecommunication and other forms of information technology (IT).
Sander (2002)believed that computers are an intelligence amplifier that
can free human to use their time effectively. Because a computer is a fast and
accurate electronic symbol or data manipulating system that design
automatically accept and store input data process and procedure output results
under the direction of the stored program or instruction.
Towsand (2005) stated that database is structed collection of data. The
data may be about people, product events in short, any type of information is to
manage the collection of data for reporting and making decision.
Perkins (1999) stated that computer has an impressive impact upon
business, governmental organization; bank and all sorts of organization and on
how they are operate and manage.

Related Studies
Conde(2007) in his study entitled Barangay profiling System cited that
the manual process of inputting records and manual handling of information and
reports of the residents is very laborious one. The proponents developed a
computer based ,barangay profiling system to solve the huge amount of task.
Saayo(2008) developed the system Barangay profiling System. Due to
increasing population of the barangay, and the barnagay currently
implementing the manual system, every resident spends a lot of time during filling
of personal files.
Admissions profiles can also include transcripts of interviews, records of
interactions with the applicant, and other relevant data. If the student was
accepted, the admissions profile will be used to generate a student profile for
recordkeeping purposes, with the profile including records of personal data of
the students like name, address, age, birthday, and some important details, and
being maintained by the registrar. Education had been industrialized for the
past centuries. From teaching and learning under a tree to developing the minds
and skills of students through effective, efficient and modern way One of the best
methods of student administration is the Student Profiling System. Student profiling
system is professional and academic discipline concerned with the strategic,
managerial and operational activities involved in the gathering, processing,
storing, distributing and use of information, and its associated technologies, in
society and organizations. Specifically, this computer-based profiling system is
complementary networks of hardware/software that people or organization use
to collect, filters, and process, create and distribute data. Profiling systems are
implemented within an organization for the purpose of improving the

Rona (2011) in her study entitled A Proposed Student Profiling System for
the College of Information Technology, University of La Salette, Santiago City will
aid the time of the students in filling the profile information for the student can
manage their time in their studies. The activities that the researchers want to
develop are the computerized profiling system.
Dr. Peter G. Knight in his study, The Online Information System, can stored
datas, that is, its file or its database, are usually organized in such a way that
individual pieces of data can be retrieve and for modified quickly and without
necessarily accessing any other piece of data in the system.
According to Rice (2006), computers enhancement proved to be more
remarkable and even for a global communication to access immediate
information system to information technology that is used by people to
accomplish specified organizational individual object. The technology that may
be used in gathering, processing, storing and dissemination of information and
the users are trained in the use of that technology

CHAPTER III
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the procedure which the researchers made
use of, including the description of respondents locale of the study and
instruments utilized for gathering data and information for the
development of the study.
3.1Research Design
The researchers made use of the description normative survey of
research to obtain data. It involves describing, analyzing and interpreting
the conditions of the existing system. This was designed to record
information, analyzed and interpreted data being entered on the
proposed system.
3.2 Locale of the Study
This study was conducted at Barangay Nannarian, Peablanca,
Cagayan.
3.3Research Instruments
To obtain the necessary data in this study the researchers used the
following methods.
The researchers used the interview method to gather information
and data needed in this study. Interview method was conducted to
ensure the responses to certain questions intended to obtain information
about the problem. With this method the researchers was able to identify
the existing problem of the existing system.

A questionnaire was also utilized as the instrument for gathering
data. This is composed the profile of the officials and queries for data
gathering. It is a set of questions arranged in a sequence.

The resident provide information; those information will deliver to the sub
process. Once the resident give his her information it will go in the verify resident
information process. When theres a new resident, it is required to provide his/her
detail information. That information will go to the verification process and will
proceed to the next step which is the process of register information resident and
will immediately store the details of the new resident in the list of residents. From
there, it will generate the report. In establishing a business in the barangay, the
owner needs to provide his/her information; that information will go to the
verification process and check the owner in the list of residents. After that the

business will be registered. When the business registered it will issue the business
permit to the owner of the business.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
5.1 Summary of Finding
Through the thorough implementation of the system, the
researchers found that BARANGAY PROFILING SYSTEM of Barangay Nannarian,
Peablanca, Cagayan is the best solution of the time and effort consuming
recording and generating reports of residents of the barangay.
5.2 Conclusion
The researchers conclude that using the said study is more effective and
efficient in recording the residents profiles and therefore it is not already a
burden and laborious on the apart of the officials in charge in updating the
profiles of each residents and generates records of each residents.
5.3 Recommendation
The researchers therefore recommend that Barangay Profiling System is
more reliable to use and they recommend that Barangay Nannarian,
Peablanca should adopt it, so, as to cope with a high speed transformation of
technology and could generate a great degree of accuracy and speed.

APPENDIX A.History of Barangay Nannarian
The hunters who settled in barangay Callao went as far as the adjacent
barangay, their place of settlement to farm. They planted corn, rice, peanut
mongo beans, tobacco, sorghum and millet. These hunters are fond of drinking
chocolate which they get from the cacao seeds which they planted in
abundance. The best cake that goes with this chocolate is a native cake from
millet. Millet in the Ibanang dialect is NANNA. Because of their fondness in
drinking chocolate with millet or Nanna cake, they planted their farm with plenty
of millet. Their millet or nanna plants grew very well, very healthy and very
productive.
One time, some Spaniards passed by the farm. They were so excited and
very happy upon seeing how beautiful and how plenty were the millet or Nanna.
They asked the farmers what those plants were. The farmers answered NANNA
RA YAN meaning Those are millet. The Spaniards kept on repeating
Nannarayan until they got so used to saying the words and soon the words
Nanna ray an became one word, Nannarian. Not long after in the latter 60s the
place was proclaimed as a barangay. When Nannarian was not proclaimed as
barangay, it has three (3) sitios, namely Paku, Labo and Fugu. Later on, in the
latter 70s Nannarianhas five (5) zones. After sometime, the zone was change
into purok and with five (5) puroks, then with six (6) and presently it has seven (7)
puroks due to the rapid increase in population.
Today, Nannarian is one among the developing barangays in the
municipality Peablanca.

nature and welfare of mankind.

USER MANUAL
This screen will ask the user to input his/her uername and correct
password to access the system. The login button confirms the password if the
entered username and password is valid it will go to the next form else it will ask
the user to type the correct username.
This is the main form of the system. Here, you can choose what part of the
system to view or navigate by clicking the corresponding buttons.

This form is the residents form. In this form the following are
inputedfirstname, lastname, middlename, age, gender,etc..you made use of
labels to identify. It has four buttons, add, edit, delete, cancel.Add allows you to
add new entry in the form, edit let the user to modify the entered data or
information, delete to eliminate data or information, cancel to terminate the
process.
This form is the adding form. This is made used to enter data about the profile of
the new residents of the barangay. It has two command buttons, save and
cancel. Save allows the user to update or store information entered. Cancel use
to terminate process.

This is the edit form, this is used to modify the Input data about the profiles
of the residents. It used to change information about the residents.
This form is the list of officials in the barangay with their corresponding
data about them. It has four command buttons add, edit, delete, cancel. Add

This form is used to add new elected officials of the barangay. It has two
