Critical thinking skill is one of the 4Cs along with Communication, Creativity and Collaboration in the 21st century education. These four
competenciesareneededinordertopreparestudentstofacethesociallifeandglobalworkforce.Inthisregard,theroleofteacherisveryimportant
toensurethatthestudentswillbereadytoenterthemillenniumera.

Criticalthinkingandproblemsolvinghelpstudentstoimprovetheirconcentration,theiranalyticalskillandalsotheirthinkingprocess.Ontopof
that,theycanbeintegratedintoclassroomteachingandlearninginallofgradelevelsanddisciplines.Onthataccount,teachersaredemandedto
develop critical thinking habit and repeatedly demonstrate it in the teaching process, to encourage students to think critically about learning
materialsandtrytoconnectthemwithreallifesituation.

Accordingly,languageteachers,forexample,areexpectedtointegratecriticalthinkingskillsthroughactivitiesandtasksgivenintheirclassroom.
However,theintegrationbetweencriticalthinkingandclassroomactivityisstillchallengingformanylanguageteachers.Therefore,theyneeda
varietyofteachingstrategiesandtechniquespreparedtoenhancestudentscriticalthinkingskills.

Realisingtheimportanceofcriticalthinkingskills,SEAMEOQITEPinLanguageselectsthisissueasthethemeofthe8thAISOFOLL.Inthis
forum,teachers,lecturers,postgraduatestudentsandresearcherswithinterestsinforeignlanguagelearningandteachingatalllevelsfrom
SEAMEOandAffiliateMemberCountrieswillbeabletodiscussandsharetheirexperiences,goodpracticesandchallengesrelatedtothethemeof
criticalthinking.
