Dr. Ruben F.

Asan, Division School Supervisor, officially opened the 27 th Division Schools Press
Conference 2017 and publicly announced the reason of having this event early in August particularly,
August 23-24, 2017 to be held at Sta. Cruz Central Elementary School.

Moreover, he said that it is for the writers to have enough time to prepare for RSPC 2017 this
coming November. Its part of our endeavour to train our young student writers for them to be creative
and effective writers, he further added.

Do the best you can do today, because tomorrow is the judgment day, Dr. Asan said.

Kian Lloyd Delos Santos, 17 year-old, was killed on Tuesday night in the hands of Caloocan City
policemen. He was involved in the drug trade as a runner and had pulled a gun to the officers, forcing
them to shoot him back.

However, surveillance footage captured the August 16 incident and revealed how Kian was being
manhandled by the police officers to the spot where the boy was killed. This incident has triggered
public outrage, with several groups taking part in a Justice for Kian.

Delos Santos family were hoping to get justice for Kian and to all those extrajudicial killing
victims. President Rodrigo Duterte also assured that all those people involved should undergo
investigation and should be jailed if found guilty.

40 participating schools joined the 27th Division Schools Press Conference 2017 held at Sta. Cruz
