After consulting many renowned personalities and keeping the spirit of the original ceremony in mind we made appropriate changes to it so thal the ceremony becomes acceptable today. Dr, Nirmala Sarda converted the original English draft made by me into Hindi She also made appropriate changes io the Ceremonial Song written by Mahatma Phule and with her own inputs rewrote them as the Hindi version, Suresh Mate (MANS activist) transiated the English version into Marathi language. Prot. His revolutionary thoughts have given strength and honour to the iven strength and honour to the social history of Maharesbtra and wel help generations even in the 2 st century to follow in his fot steps inthe Search of Truth. aeavinrs rare ear Universal Truth (Satya Shodhak) Marriage Ceremony ‘This marriage ceremony is based on the Marriage ceremonies, performed by the majority ‘oflocal people ofthe Decean, mostly from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Ceremony 1) Welcome : Five prominent and elderly representatives from the brides and bridegrooms side are invited to the dais and felicitated by people of both the parties by offering them garlands, shawls etc. and are introduced to all the guests. ‘The master of ceremonies the singers ete are alo felicitated and introduced to the guests. 2) Ushering of Bride and Bride groom : The master of ceremonies requests the brides and bride grooms maternal uncle and aunt, and friends to usher the couple on tothe stage. ‘They are introduced to the guests 3) Lighting of the ceremonial fire : The ceremonial fire in the ceremonial vessel i lighted by the master of ceremonies, ‘Small pieces of Sandal wood are given tothe bride and bridegroom and they are requested to put them in the lighted fire and asked to take this vow “We now banish from our minds all negative and evil thoughts, so that we can perform our ‘marriage ceremony with pure and clear minds. Asa symbolic gesture we offer these Sandal wood tothe ie. Now all ur evil and bad thoughts are burt inthe fe and as the fragrance of burning Sandal wood pieces sweetness the air, our minds shall Become purified.” 4) Seven Vows (Seven Steps) : ‘The master of ceremonies then requests the, bride and groom to hold hands and walk side by side (not one after the other) around the ceremonial fie seven times and take seven vows as follows during each round. 1, First round —: We will devote our lives with love and care for each other. 2. Second round ; We will protect and try to conserve all life created by the creator and help the week and helpless to the best of our ability. 3, Third round: We will weat each other and every human being with honour and respect. 4, Fourth round: We shall never discriminate on the bases of race, religion, cast or gender. 5. Fifth round — We shall always respect dignity of labour and. work hard to fulfil ‘our lives dreams and become useful and helpful human beings. 6. Sixth round + We shall think rationally and strive to keep our bodies and minds healthy. Reerters fare gare 7. Seventh round : We shall strive to become healthy, wealthy and wise so that we have the capability and worth to look after and groom the new life which we may bring into this world 5) — Marriage Ceremonial Song : The mate of ceremonies will then request the bride and the bridegroom to sit on chairs ‘om the dais. The master of ceremonies, along withthe singers will then start recitin the Ceremonial Song. . memienenng This wil be recited inthe traditional styl. After every verse ofthe Ceremonial Song she will recite ‘Shubha Mangal Savadhan’. Friends and close relatives standing onthe dai and sitting in the font rows around the dais wll shower flower petals onto the bride and bridegroom. ‘The meaning of this Ceremonial Song is given here in brief * The bride says - “Give me love darling reat me as your partner Always strive fr the betterment of each other ‘Never undermine the status of a woman Always remember thatthe wife is the driving force of every husband”. + The bridegroom says - “Other women are like my sisters you only my darling Inthe presence of everyone today have made you my own. We are lke the wheels of our family chariot Let us keep them rolling together to enable us to reach our destiny”. "The bride and bridegroom say together - “We together will move ahead on the road to progress. I shall alwoaysieat you with love and respect. [shall always be there with you in your sorrow and in your happiness. I shall remain loyal to you and love you forever” + The Bridegroom will “In the presence ofall present today and with the remembrance ofthe creator, {take this ‘oath - that form taday I accept you as my wife. I shall always teat you with love and respect. I shall always be there with you in your sorrow and in gour happiness. [shall remain loyal to you and lave you forever.” D _ Exchange of the garlands : ‘The Master of ceremony will handover the garlands and bouquets to the bride and bridegroom. The bride and bridegroom will now Garland each other and present bouquets to each other. 8) _ Exchange of the Necklaces : The Bridegroom will put the necklace around the neck ofthe brie; the bride will then offer the Bridegroom a chain to be worn around his neck. ‘The master of ceremonies will then declare that the bride and bride groom are married. 9) Vote of Thanks : Master of ceremonies will then request the bride and the bridegroom to thank everyone present ‘The bride and the bridegroom will thank the master of ceremonies and all present with folded palms and say that they thank every one for being present fortheie marriage and for siving them their blessings, ‘The marriage ceremony will end. aera: ferare aaroT Benefits of the Universal Truth Marriage Ceremony |.
