Unit 4: Cities
Lesson 4c: Times zones.
Goal: - Describe your favorite place and what are their schedule to open and close.
Set up: Rules, Recommendations, Rubrics.
Warm up: Students will answer some questions about their special Places. Is there a bakery in this
neighborhood? Whos in this place? What is the address of this place? What is special about this place for
you? What colors are there in your place? When is it opened? When is it closed?
Transition: Teacher will explain how to give information about their places, and answer where and who about
their places and tell students that they will build up some questions about their special or favorite places in
the city.
Activity 1: students will listen to track 36 and complete exercises 1 and 2, then they will point out times with
their correct way of saying it, after they will create sentences about their favorite places and times.
Transition: Teacher will ask them what they can see on page51 and which of these places they have
different times.
Activity 2: they will answer some questions about time zones and then they will build up a map of their
favorite countries around the world to answer some questions about their programs times.
Transition: Teacher will explain how to create questions with do to students and then they will show their
own questions to their classmates to guide them in their favorite channels; then teacher will remind them
how to give hours.
Activity 3: They will describe their favorite programs to get to different places in their maps and then they will
play blind directions in the classroom.
Transition: teacher will ask them if they remember how to ask information questions and then teacher will
explain to them how to elaborate information to ask for directions.
Activity 3: teacher will tell students that they will practice more directions with a worksheet about different
places and some objects in it.
Transition: Teacher will tell student that they are going to describe what is near to the Colombo and then they
will create yes or no questions about it to ask their partners about places around Colombo.
Activity 4 ( wrap up): students will read about different maps in groups of three and then one member of the
group will tell about their places to the others groups, after each group will create questions about their
places and after ask to their partners. Finally, teacher will call each student to ask questions about their maps.
