SAFE WORK INSTRUCTION

Circular Saw

Wear eye protection Wear hearing protection

Wear safety footwear Do not wear loose clothing or

jewellery and restrain long hair

Preparation
Only trained and competent persons to use
circular saws
Inspect saw to make sure it is in safe
operating condition including guard working
well, electrical lead in good condition
Keep body parts away from saw blade
Ensure work piece is well secured before
cutting
Change / sharpen saw blades as soon as they
become dull
Electrical testing and tagging

Use
Allow blade to reach full speed before sawing
Keep work area clear and well lit
Beware of bystanders
Do not use in wet conditions
Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Dont over reach

Adjustment/Maintenance
Disconnect electricity before maintenance
Routine maintenance, cleaning and lubrication to occur

Note: This Safe work Instruction must be reviewed a) after any accident or incident;
b) when training new staff;
c) if adopted by new work group;
d) if equipment, substances or processes change or
e) within 12 months of date of issue.
