THIESSEN POLYGON METHOD
From the given map of Bicol River Basin, construct the corresponding Thiessen Polygon using the
rainfall stations shown in red dots. You can also download the map from the internet.
Note:
Use technical pen (probably 0.2 or 0.10) in connecting rainfall stations ( dash lines).
Use colored ink (red or blue solid lines) in drawing perpendicular bisectors to the
connecting lines. Make sure the bisector lines are at midpoints and at 90 O from the
connecting lines.
Photocopy the map before plotting the thiessen polygon. The thiessen polygon must
be overlayed/drawn directly to the given map. Plain paper with traced boundaries and
points will not be accepted.
Incorrect thiessen polygon is equivalent to 60 % grade for Assignment # 1.

DOUBLE-MASS ANALYSIS

The annual precipitation at station X and the average annual precipitation at 15 surrounding stations
are shown in the table below.
a) Determine the consistency of the record at station X.
b) In what year is a change in regime indicated?
c) Compute the mean annual precipitation for station X for the entire 20-year period without
adjustment.
d) Repeat part (c) for station X with the data adjusted for the change in regime.
