Complaining - Talking about Complaints

What are complaints?

Complaints are expressions of "displeasure or unsatisfactory" toward some services


that are given to someone. (komplain merupakan ungkapan-ungkapan
ketidaksenangan atau ketidakpuasan terhadap suatu pelayanan yang diberikan kepada
seseorang)

Complaining:

Here are expressions you can use when complaining:

Sorry, I have a complaint to make about ... (maaf, saya ingin komplain
tentang)
I'm sorry to say this but... (maaf untuk mengatakan ini, tetapi...)
(Well,) this is the most unsatisfactory service Ive ever had..
I'm afraid I've got a complaint about... (Saya takut kalau saya harus komplain
tentang.....)
I want to complain about... (saya ingin komplain tentang)
I'm angry about... (Saya marah dengan...)
Excuse me, but there is a problem with ..(Maaf, ada masalah dengan ...)
I really must object to ...(Saya benar - benar keberatan dengan ...)
I am sorry but this is not like what I expected.. (maaf, tapi ini tidak seperti
yang saya harapkan)
Sorry to bother you, but I think there is something wrong with ... (Maaf

Responding to complaints

Positive response to complaints:

I'm so sorry, but this will never occur / happen again.


I'm sorry, we promise never to do the same mistake again.
I'm really sorry; we'll do our best not to do the same mistake again.

Negative response to complaints:

Sorry there is nothing we can do about it.


I'm afraid, there isn't much we can do about it.
We are sorry but the food is just alright

(Situation) Tuan Smith sudah memesan sebuah kamar di hotel. Ketika sampai di hotel
resepsionis mengatakan semua kamar hotel sudah penuh. Dia mengajukan komplain pada
pegawai hotel.

Mr. Smith : Excuse me, Could you give me the key for room 101 that I booked
last week?
Receptionist : May I know your name, sir?
Mr. Smith : Sam Smith. I booked for a single room last week.
Receptionist : I am sorry, sir. But we have no record of your booking.
Mr. Smith : Well, I am afraid I have to make a complaint about this. I booked the
room. myself a week ago. I have a payment invoice to prove it.
