Strategies to Learn a Foreign Language

Strategy is a plan or the tools that we use to do an activity or something in order to

achieve something. Nowadays exist many strategies to learn a foreign language. Three of them

include: the utilization of the technology, the readings and the communication with native people.

The first language learning strategy is the utilization of the technology. Today there are

many technological tools which permit us learn another language. For example, computer,

tablets, cellphones and the most important internet. On internet, we can watch and listen to

videos, movies, documentaries and music videos. It is very convenient because we have access to

the internet and we can get what we choose. Of this way, we can improve our listening skill and

enhance our knowledge.

The second language learning strategy is reading books, tales, articles, novels that can be

our interest. This will help us to increase our vocabulary. It helps us to acquire knowledge in

general topics. For example: a cute love story, ultimate pleasure, new life, those are interesting

books that we can find on internet or a library.

The last language learning strategy is, speaking with native people. There are many

possibilities to meet and speak with people that speak English. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,

whatsApp and Skype are applications which bring us that possibility. In these applications we

can find people who want to know about our language of the same way that we know it. It is a

good strategy to improve our skills in the language that we want to learn. For example, people

who live in United State, Canada, England and others countries that would like to speak Spanish.

We can establish contact with them in order to learn English.

There are many strategies that we can use to learn a foreign language that you can use in

order to achieve our learning. We must think if the strategies that we use are succeed because it

depends our development in this process of learning. We have to put in practice everything that
we learn. We must take profit from technological tools.
