Default Font tool

1. Purpose and description

Default Font tool Changes default font type, color and size for a specified number of
drawing setting types.

3. Installation
To install the application:
1. Close down Tekla Structures (if running)
2. Download MSI Installer from Tekla extranet
3. Install and run MSI Installer
4. Start up Tekla Structures
5. Open existing project model where to set custom font settings.

6. Drag and dock the new toolbar

4. Usage
To use the plugins:
1. Launch tool within modeling interface (do not open drawing interface).

2. Set the font type, color and size (optional).

3. Select Set.
4. The application reads drawing files located in the environment path settings, makes
copies of them into the model attribute folder, edits the font settings within them, and
saves them into the model attribute folder.
5. When complete, the application prompts user to save and reopen model. This is to
view the impact of the settings created.

 6. Open the models attribute folder to review what files have been created.

To use the settings on your project:

1. The user can use the current model where the custom font settings are currently
saved. If this model is opened in multi-user mode, the font settings will still be
accessible by other users since the settings are in the model attribute folder.
2. If the user wishes to reuse the drawing font settings on other projects or for company
standards, he or she can cut and paste the saved attribute files into their XS_FIRM or
XS_PROJECT folder.

Undo changes to font.

1. Simply delete the font files or reset them with a new setting. Your saved font settings
are always saved in the model attribute folder so the user cannot accidentally save on
top of their company standards (which are not typically in the model folder).

5. Limitations
The drawing types listed in the
:\TeklaStructures\version\nt\bin\applications\Tekla\Drawings\DefaultFont\DefaultFo
nt.ini file are only supported. Adding additional types to this list will not result in them
being customized.
1. Many default font settings lie within the .gd (GA Drawing Properties) and .vi (View
Properties) settings. The user cannot customize the settings within these files
uniquely. For example, the grid size and section symbol size is typically larger than
notes and dimension font and cannot be uniquely customized within these two files.
However, the user can load these drawing settings and quickly update the font size
and color for these settings as needed.

6. Tips
It is possible to run this tool by launching DefaultFont macro (modeling mode).
