General Greetings
A family/student without a book bag walks in.

An adult in business clothing walks in.

Stand and say: Hello, welcome to LSU! How can I help you?

If not, see if there is room for another guest. Register them if there is, and if
there is not, offer them a self-guided tour packet.
Were here for a tour, but the Visitors Center parking lot is full!
There is more metered parking at the Union Square Parking Garage. It is just a short walk
from there to the Geaux Center in the Student Union, where your tour will begin. If you
are using a GPS navigation system, enter the intersection of East Campus Drive and
Raphael Semmes Road as your destination, or use the GPS coordinates 30.413039, -
91.174646. Be sure to enter the code you received in your confirmation email at the
meter stations to park for free!

Where do I go for the tour?

Tours begin in the Geaux Center, which is located on the ground floor of the Student
Union. An LSU Liaison will be happy to escort you there!

If a group has just left with the Liaison: They just left with a group of visitors. Until they
return, feel free to look around or relax in a seat, and theyll be back shortly!

How long are tours?

Our daily Gold tours are about two hours long. Gold tours consist of an immersive visit
experience led by both current LSU students and staff that includes a walking portion of
the tour as well as a shuttle ride through campus.

I want to tour Tiger Stadium. Will we go there?

We do not, but we do visit Mike the Tigers habitat across from the stadium. There is also
a 360 degree virtual tour of each facility available at www.lsusports.net!

Will we get to tour a dorm during the tour?

While our office does not offer tours of residence halls, the Department of Residential
Life offers tours of residence halls Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and
3:00 p.m. tour out of Grace King Hall. No reservation is required.

Im going to need a school excuse. How do I secure one?

We have a standardized school excuse form that we offer to each of our tour guests when
they check in for the tour. We can also have a staff member sign any documentation that
your school requires at the conclusion of the tour.

I want to talk to a specific department. How can I do that?

You can learn more about specific majors at www.lsu.edu/majors. You are welcome to
contact your Senior College for a visit or more information. Further info can be found on
this sheet.
[Offer a Senior College contact sheet & circle the college theyre interested in.]

I have an appointment with a specific department after my tour. How do I get there?
Each Visitors Guide has a map in the center. Let me show you how to get there!
[Offer them a Visitors Guide and draw the best route to their destination in pen.]

Adult Visitors
Im here for a meeting with [insert name/department/building here]. Where do I go?
Great! Let me show you where that is. Ill also give the person youre meeting a call and
let them know you are on your way.
[Offer them a Visitors Guide and draw the best route to their destination in pen.
Write down the visitors name and their contacts name for your records. As they
leave, look up their contact persons information in the Staff Directory and let
them know the guest is on the way.]
Group Tours
I have a large school group here. Where do we go?
Turn right out of this parking lot and proceed down Dalrymple Drive, then take a left onto
Tower Drive. You can unload the tour guests in front of Memorial Tower, where an LSU
Liaison will meet them. The buses should then proceed through the loop in front of the
Union. From there, they will turn right on Highland Road, then turn right onto Nicholson
Drive Extension. Next, turn right onto Nicholson Drive and turn left onto Skip Bertman
Drive. Immediately after crossing the railroad tracks, park all buses in the Remote Shuttle
Lot located on the right.

How long is a group tour?

The walking tour will take an hour, and if youve requested an info session, that will last
about 30 minutes.

Where can we eat on campus? What if we brought our own lunches?

Lunch is not provided by LSU, but there are numerous locations where your group can
enjoy a meal on campus. We encourage groups to contact LSU Dining at (225) 578-6642
to make arrangements. See their website for more info: www.dineoncampus.com/lsu/.
If you wanted to brown bag your lunch, you can, but you are not allowed to bring outside
food into a university building. Your group will have to eat outdoors on the Parade
Ground or in the Greek Amphitheatre, or on the bus if it rains.

Will we get to tour a residential hall?

We do not include a Campus Housing stop in our tour, but you are welcome to call
(225) 578-0565 and speak with Danielle Dreeszen with Residential Life to set up a visit.

We are late for our group tour. What now?

We handle this on a case-by-case basis depending on what tours are happening for the
day and the class schedules of our student tour guides. We usually can accommodate
moderate tardiness, but worst case scenario, we can give you a self-guided tour packet
and a fun scavenger hunt to accompany it.

Does Mike like living at LSU?

Oh yes! Mikes habitat underwent major renovations before his arrival, making it an even
more comfortable environment for him. The tiger habitat and LSUs animal care plan are
licensed by the USDA. The facility, tiger and animal care program are inspected annually
to ensure that the facility and the program are in compliance with the Federal Animal
Welfare Act and other USDA policies and guidelines. LSU is committed to worldwide tiger
conservation and hopes to raise awareness about the dwindling live tiger population and
the plight of tigers kept illegally in captivity in the U.S.

What does Mike eat?

Weekly, Mike eats 175 pounds of food. Mikes food is a formulated zoo carnivore diet,
which consists of two varieties of beef and all the necessary vitamins and minerals to
maintain Mikes ever growing needs.
